Job Purpose


The Project Manager must be actively engaged in all aspects of the project for which they are responsible for from customer drawing issues to final invoicing and collection.


Responsibilities:


  • Displays a commitment to Waiward's incidentfree vision, values, and culture;
  • Participates in pre award contract negotiations and bid review as directed;
  • Exercises due diligence in review of customer contract and specifications to ensure that it complies with our offer and subsequent agreements;
  • Holds project kickoff meetings as required to ensure that all Waiward departments are aware of project requirements and have input to the successful execution of the project;
  • Setsup and maintains project management files in accordance with departmental standards.

Exercises due diligence in managing customer changes:

  • In conjunction with rest of record identify changes by reviewing all IFC drawings, drawing revisions, and customer requests;
  • Provide timely notice to customer in accordance with contract agreement;
  • Manage contract change costs through Waiward's system and invoice costs in a timely manner;
  • Prepares, submits, and updates budget costs when required by customers;
  • Ensures that customer acceptance of contract values, budget values, change values are in place to facilitate timely billing of all costs;
  • Reviews expenditures of job costs and labour and compare to earned values at a minimum of once per month;
  • Prepares, maintains, updates project schedules in conjunction with drafting and production department scheduling;
  • Reviews all incoming customer drawings, assign division, Contract Change Notice (CCN), if applicable, and confirm schedule;
  • Notifies customer of any Contract Change Notices, including cost impact delivery impact, and project impact if applicable;
  • Manages collection and submission of CCN costs on an ongoing basis (minimum monthly);
  • Compiles data, manages, maintains, and approves project invoicing process on a timely basis;
  • Responsible for total subcontract vendor performance including formation and execution in concert with corporate goals;
  • Completes monthly cost control and WIP reports in a timely fashion;
  • Compiles data and information for historical statistical database;
  • Performs estimating duties as requested;
  • Develops and maintain customer relations for potential work.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of project management / coordination experience;
  • Post Secondary training an asset;
  • Industry specific trade training an asset;
  • Proven leadership
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Very strong analytical, attention to detail and problem solving skills;
  • Exceptional organization and time management skills;
  • Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees, management and external relationships.

Working Conditions


The job may require the incumbent to walk stairs; be outside in inclement weather (slippery surfaces and cold); carrying objects, driving and being exposed to normal office routines.


Physical Requirements


The incumbent is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; viewing a computer terminal for extended periods of time; and extensive reading.

The incumbent is also required to stand and sit for extended periods of time.
