The Role:


The
Controller, will report to the CFO while collaborating closely with the extended executive team, providing strategic counsel and support to the business leadership.

Also responsible for the ongoing management of strategic and operating financial plans, reporting & analysis, and ensuring that corporate financial policies and procedures are followed.


What you'll be working on:


  • Manage all accounting operations, including Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable and General Ledger
  • Ensure proper accounting under Canadian Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises; managing monthend closing and preparing accurate monthly financial statements and other operational reports; analyzing variances and communicating explanations to management with recommended actions
  • Prepare budgets and forecasts of the income statement, balance sheets and statements of cash flows
  • Provide financial analysis tools to evaluate company ventures or special projects, programs, capital expenditures and pricing models
  • Assure financial plans are consistent with organizational goals
  • Integrate and train new staff while leading the continued professional development of the existing team, and sharing best practices
  • Serve as a change agent within the business, proactively identifying and implementing opportunities for key process efficiencies to improve overall business and financial operations.
  • Monitor and implement internal facility controls (in conjunction with corporate policies) as necessary to ensure reporting integrity, safeguarding of company assets, and identifying/managing risks
  • Ensure proper and timely filing and the remittance of all government related filings
  • Assist with foreign currency and hedging activities when appropriate
  • Evolve into the Management of various other operational departments, including Purchasing, Pricing, Human Resources and Information Technology
  • Respond to CFO, President and CEO requests as assigned
  • Participate in a wide variety of special projects and compile a variety of special reports
  • Collaborate with internal teams of crossfunctional departments to support strategic objectives

Qualifications/Requirements:


  • 5+ years experience in Accounting or Finance with Business to Business experience
  • Understand the electrical distribution business and product offerings, differentiation in the marketplace, channel to market, and supply chain.
  • Exceptional problemsolving skills, a creative thinker, adaptable and comfortable with changing environments
  • Able to independently identify and execute opportunities for improvement and strengthening of control
  • Knowledge and understanding of continuous quality improvement techniques related to financial targets, timeliness and staff satisfaction
  • Highly developed MS Office skills. Advanced Excel skills are a must
  • Able to establish credibility, trust and build relationships with people of all levels of an organization
