About the Opportunity:


The Correctional Health Services Program is responsible for the provision of primary care services, mental health and addictions services, and dental services, within the adult provincial correctional facilities.

The delivery of health services includes nursing assessments and interventions, diagnostic services, physician clinics, health promotion and prevention, emergency care, dental clinics, psychiatric and psychologist services, and special programs (e.g. Immunizations, Infectious Disease, Opiate Agonist Therapy).


The Health Services Manager (HSM) is responsible for providing strategic and operational leadership for interprofessional health services team at the Central Nova Scotia Correctional Facility.

The HSM will be responsible for day-to-day clinical operations, standards of care, and maintaining a safe and respectful work environment.

The HSM also provides support to the Health Services team at the Southwest Nova Scotia Correctional Facility.


Reporting to the Provincial Program Lead for Correctional Health Services, and working as part of a collaborative leadership team, the HSM will contribute to policy development, quality initiatives, service standardization, and resource management.

The HSM will support the team in achieving the Accreditation Standards and adherence to organizational policies and procedures.


The HSM will build a positive relationship with the Department of Justice and work collaboratively to resolve operational issues to ensure safe and timely care for patients.

The HSM will also be required to engage with a wide range of services and programs across Nova Scotia Health and community healthcare providers.


About You:

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Bachelors Degree from a health related discipline
  • Master's degree or Leadership certificate an asset
  • Minimum five (5) years recent experience in a leadership and/or management position with responsibilities related to program planning, evaluation, human resource and financial management within a unionized environment
  • Minimum five (5) years recent clinical experience in a position included in this portfolio
  • Must be registered with the relevant health discipline college/association
  • Previous leadership/management experience an asset
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, analytical, problem solving, conflict resolution, negotiation, strategic thinking and decisionmaking skills, with the ability to successfully change, adapt, overcome, and cope with unexpected challenges
  • Experience and expertise in process planning and redesign work
  • Requires a high level of sound judgment, initiative, and selfdirection
  • Demonstrates high degrees of independent decision making, motivation, creativity, flexibility, adaptability, and change management knowledge
  • Proven and highly developed leadership skills including vision, selfawareness, relationship and team building skills, and communication skills
  • Travel may be required
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Hours:


  • Permanent Full Time position; 75 hours biweekly

Compensation and Incentives:

$ $58.34 hourly
