Duties and Responsibilities:


Under the supervision of the Manager, the job is responsible for constructing, erecting, installing or repairing structures and fixtures made of wood, plywood, and wallboard, using carpenter's hand tools and power tools.


Qualifications:


The incumbent must possess the following qualifications:

  • Knowledge of carpentry and their maintenance;
  • Knowledge of fire protection of materials for the work to be performed;
  • An understanding of job safety on the work site in the use of ladders and scaffolding;
  • Ability to work under limited supervision

Education and Experience:


The above is normally acquired through:

  • The completion of grade twelve or equivalent and a valid Ontario General Carpenter Journeyman's Trade Certificate
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in residential, commercial, and institutional environments

Licenses or Certificates:


  • Health and Safety
  • Driver's License
  • First Aid
  • Asbestos Awareness
  • Lift(boor and/or scissor) including working from heights
