The Crystal Lodge are looking to recruit a Maintenance Supervisor to join help lead and support their maintenance team.

  • This is a fulltime position that will be expected to work weekends and evenings.
  • The purpose of this role is to oversee the Maintenance team and support the Maintenance Manager with the ongoing, planned and reactive maintenance work required to ensure the hotel meets internal and external expectations.
Some of the duties required for this position are, but not limited to:

  • Proficient with all health and safety policies and procedures of the Crystal Lodge and ensuring these are trained to all new employees
  • Lead the preventative maintenance program for guest rooms
  • Take leadership role in many of the Capital and major projects at the hotel
  • Assist manager to ensure a safe and wellmaintained physical plant and product to exceed guest expectations.
  • Perform routine inspections of the property, all machinery and equipment
  • Ensure well maintained guest rooms and public areas, by identifying and reporting deficiencies and opportunities.
  • Contributes to the success for the hotel as a whole by communicating with other departments and always maintaining a position of a natural leader, even with other departments.
  • Assists in ensuring hotel compliance with all municipal, provincial, and federal regulations relating to operational functions, fire and safety programs
  • Assists in facilitating all Emergency Response and Safety Training for all hotel associates.
  • Monitors and assists with keeping levels of par stock at appropriate levels
  • Ensures all processes, spaces and employees adhere to the Crystal Lodge Joint Health & Safety guidelines.
  • Closely monitor and adhere to all budgets set out for the department and projects.
  • Be available for emergency call outs outside of regular work hours.
  • Lead department in absence of Manager
  • Chairs or cochairs hotel's Joint Health & Safety Committee
  • Builds strong relationships with outside vendors and contractors.
  • Assists in guiding, directing, organizing and development of an engaged Maintenance team.
  • Ensures the team understands the correlation between service excellence and guest perception of the hotel, mentoring all members of the team towards service excellence and the creation of wow factors.
  • Assists manager with administrative duties associated with people management (payroll, performance reviews etc.).
  • Provides a "Hands on" and "Lead by example" approach with day to day engineering duties and/or projects as required.


Please note, that this list is not exhaustive, and you will be required to complete tasks in addition to those listed above that ensure the maintenance department remain efficient, effective and to expectations.


  • An effective leader with proven supervisory experience working within a maintenance (or similar field) department of at least five employees.
  • A minimum of 5 years hotel maintenance (or equivalent) experience is essential for this position.
  • A valid drivers' license.
  • Have a good understanding MS Office packages.
  • Be competent in using all types of hand and power tools, with the ability to read and translate mechanical and construction blue prints provided by outside contractors.
  • There are times where you will be working under pressure and to strict deadlines, so the ability to manage time effectively, remain calm and portray a positive demeanor to guests is essential.
