Job summary
This position leads the development and implementation of the FireSmart program within Prince Edward Island. It includes working with residents, communities, First Nations, and other levels of Government to communicate, fund, and implement wildfire prevention activities across the province.This role involves coordinating training for FireSmart personnel at different levels as well as delivering all programs including introductory sessions for groups and Volunteer Fire Departments.
The ideal candidate will have related post-secondary degree/diploma experience in a similar field strong interpersonal skills knowledge about equity diversity inclusion principles national/provincial framework valid driver's license ability to work evenings weekends physical fitness standard yearly achievement annual certification Wildfire Mitigation Specialist Certification completion of FireSmart training roles Level 1-3 Train-the-Trainer CWMS Exam ICS 100/200/300 experience in residential development commercial construction building materials knowledge structural vulnerabilities mitigation best practices completion of fire suppression incident on-going training mental health aspects wildland fire responders mental physical health diversity inclusion information sessions webinars participation policies promote EDI response teams organizations.
