About the Organization

  • Dalhousie Transportation Collaboratory (DalTRAC)
is a multi-disciplinary research facility dedicated to the advancement of transportation engineering/planning research and practice at Dalhousie University. The unit aims to contribute to transportation studies, planning, and analysis at local, regional, and national levels.


Job Summary

  • Reporting to the Principal Investigator, the Project Coordinator
  • Communication & Grants
will be involved in collaborating with team members and stakeholders in the participation, organization, and promotion of highly knowledge-intensive transportation planning research activities to help achieve project goals.


Key Responsibilities

  • Implement strategic communication plans by preparing, managing, and distributing communication materials.
  • Manage communication plans for DalTRAC including the maintenance of DalTRAC websites and social media platforms.
  • Develop grant proposals in consultation with the Principal Investigator (PI) and research staff.
  • Plan and organize events including securing event space, organizing catering, tracking invitations, assisting with promotion, providing support and ensuring the successful execution of the event.

Note

  • Due to operational requirements, the successful applicant is required to work inperson on campus.

Required Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in urban planning, public administration, environmental science, management, or related field with a minimum of 1 year of related experience, preferably in project coordination or communications.
  • Experience writing funding proposals and coordinating multidisciplinary academic grant proposals.
  • Experience in transportation, urban planning, or related research.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to build effective relationships and partnerships.
  • Strong ability to work independently to manage and prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Intermediate to advanced skills with Microsoft Office products.
  • Sound behavioral competencies including teamwork and cooperation, innovation, leadership, communication, impact and influence, and valuing diversity.

Assets

  • Master's degree in urban planning, public administration, environmental science, management, or related field.
  • Experience working in an academic environment.
  • Good understanding of the grant writing process and/or experience writing compelling funding proposals.
  • Graphic design experience.
