    Job Description

    The Soldering Technician is responsible for performing complex hand soldering, rework, inspection, and triage activities on advanced printed circuit board assemblies. This role requires strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while maintaining quality, traceability, and safety standards.

    Responsibilities

    • Perform complex hand soldering on multilayer PCB assemblies with various SMT components and IC packages.
    • Operate and maintain soldering and rework equipment including soldering stations, desoldering tools, and hot air systems.
    • Conduct visual inspections to identify damage, contamination, and mechanical defects.
    • Mount units into test systems and perform initial electrical and functional screening.
    • Execute diagnostics and triage using manufacturing test tools.
    • Assign disposition outcomes and route units for further analysis with detailed documentation.
    • Maintain chain of custody for returned materials and ensure accurate system records.
    • Capture and attach supporting evidence such as photos and test data while maintaining data integrity and confidentiality.
    • Follow established triage and failure analysis procedures and recommend process improvements.
    • Support installation, maintenance, and calibration of test stations.
    • Perform corrective and preventive maintenance activities.
    • Manage inventory of laboratory and test equipment.

    Requirement / Must Have

    • Strong experience with hand soldering and rework on complex PCB assemblies.
    • Ability to read schematics, board layouts, and identify component footprints and net locations.
    • Solid understanding of PCB assemblies, ESD protocols, and electronics troubleshooting.
    • Proficiency in documenting technical findings and maintaining accurate records.
    • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.
    • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.
    • Strong attention to detail and adherence to standard operating procedures.

    Experience

    • Experience in electronics repair, triage, or manufacturing quality inspection.
    • Hands-on experience with complex PCBAs and board-level rework.
    • Familiarity with manufacturing test systems and diagnostic tools.
    • Experience working with quality or repair workflows.

    Qualifications And Education

    • College diploma or technical certificate in Electronics Technology, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
    • IPC-A-610 certification required.
    • Additional IPC certifications are a plus.

    Should Have

    • Familiarity with Linux or Ubuntu environments.
    • Knowledge of quality management and electronics workmanship standards.
    • Exposure to structured quality or failure analysis processes.

    Skills

    • Through-hole and surface-mount soldering.
    • PCB inspection and defect identification.
    • Technical documentation and reporting.
    • Time management and multitasking.
    • Strong organizational and analytical skills.
