    Description

    the Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen (RDOS) covers an area over 10,400 km 2 and is renowned for its orchards, vineyards and golf courses, as well as its widely varied landscape including deserts, mountains and valleys, pristine lakes and outdoor recreational opportunities.

    The Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen is currently recruiting for a regular, full-time Systems Operator I - Water to join the Utilities team.

    The Systems Operator I - Water position is responsible for contributing to the efficient and effective operation of the water and wastewater operations (primary focus on water) by performing a variety of operations and maintenance duties.

    Secondary school graduation or equivalent, plus:
    EOCP Water Distribution Operator Level I
    The following would be considered an asset:
    EOCP Wastewater Collection Operator Level I
    EOCP Water Treatment Operator Level I
    Certificate of Training for Transport of Dangerous Goods
    A minimum of 2 years of experience in a Class I or higher system/facility.
    Knowledge of relevant policies, bylaws, procedures, safety methods and occupational hazards in the water operations and maintenance environment.
    Chlorine Handling certificate would be considered and asset.
    Demonstrated computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, and Excel).
    Ability to work flexible work hours, including evenings and weekends.

    Ability to operate mechanical tools and equipment used in the operations, maintenance, installation, and repair of water and wastewater system works.

    This regular, full-time position is included in the BCGEU bargaining unit. The hourly wage for the position is $31.
