Hospice Niagara, a not-for-profit charitable organization that focuses on improving the quality of life for people living with life-limiting illnesses, death, dying, grief and loss, is seeking a Marketing and Events Assistant for a Contract Summer Position.


Qualifications:


  • Eligible to participate in the Canada Summer Jobs Program;
  • Between 15 and 30 years of age at the beginning of the employment period
  • A Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment
  • Valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.
  • Educational emphasis on marketing, public relations, community relations, or related discipline
  • Access to a personal smart phone for pictures and social media posts
  • Valid Ontario "G" driver's license and access to personal vehicle with current vehicle insurance policy indicating a minimum of $1 million liability

Key Responsibilities:


  • Assist with marketing, communications and fund development efforts for events and lotteries, such as the 5 Car Draw, Catch the Ace, Swing Hard for Hospice Niagara, Smile Cookie, Taste, and Hike for Hospice Niagara
  • Help build the organization's presence on social media channels
  • Track, report and evaluate (CRM) on media and social media activities
  • Assist with the planning, implementation and evaluation of fundraising events and lotteries, such as the 5 Car Draw and Golf Tournament
  • Create and distribute weekly volunteer updates
  • Assist with delivery and pickup of 5 Car Draw signs across Niagara
  • Assist with onsite 5 Car Draw ticket sales and process payments
  • Solicit and pick up donations of giftinkind to use as prizes and auction items
  • Event and campaign support as needed
  • Provide input into post event reports
  • Other duties, as required

Skills & Attributes:


  • Direct experience in graphic design for professional campaigns
  • Competence and accuracy in entering data, as well as working with Excel spreadsheets
  • Event planning and implementation experience
  • Outgoing, friendly, "cando" attitude
  • Exceptional interpersonal, written, verbal communication and editing skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Demonstrated creativity and professionalism
  • Ability to manage varying priorities, working under tight timelines
