Marketing Assistant - St. Catharines, Canada - Hospice Niagara
Description
Hospice Niagara, a not-for-profit charitable organization that focuses on improving the quality of life for people living with life-limiting illnesses, death, dying, grief and loss, is seeking a Marketing and Events Assistant for a Contract Summer Position.
Qualifications:
- Eligible to participate in the Canada Summer Jobs Program;
- Between 15 and 30 years of age at the beginning of the employment period
- A Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment
- Valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.
- Educational emphasis on marketing, public relations, community relations, or related discipline
- Access to a personal smart phone for pictures and social media posts
- Valid Ontario "G" driver's license and access to personal vehicle with current vehicle insurance policy indicating a minimum of $1 million liability
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with marketing, communications and fund development efforts for events and lotteries, such as the 5 Car Draw, Catch the Ace, Swing Hard for Hospice Niagara, Smile Cookie, Taste, and Hike for Hospice Niagara
- Help build the organization's presence on social media channels
- Track, report and evaluate (CRM) on media and social media activities
- Assist with the planning, implementation and evaluation of fundraising events and lotteries, such as the 5 Car Draw and Golf Tournament
- Create and distribute weekly volunteer updates
- Assist with delivery and pickup of 5 Car Draw signs across Niagara
- Assist with onsite 5 Car Draw ticket sales and process payments
- Solicit and pick up donations of giftinkind to use as prizes and auction items
- Event and campaign support as needed
- Provide input into post event reports
- Other duties, as required
Skills & Attributes:
- Direct experience in graphic design for professional campaigns
- Competence and accuracy in entering data, as well as working with Excel spreadsheets
- Event planning and implementation experience
- Outgoing, friendly, "cando" attitude
- Exceptional interpersonal, written, verbal communication and editing skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Demonstrated creativity and professionalism
- Ability to manage varying priorities, working under tight timelines
Expected to work flexible hours, including weekends, evenings and holidays
Hospice Niagara requires that all newly hired employees are to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 as a condition of being hired and provide proof of full vaccination, or provide proof of a bona fide medical or Human Rights Code exemption on a form issued from and approved by Hospice Niagara.
