The Health Care Aide functions as a member of the multidisciplinary team by providing safe, patient focused health care services for patients on the Post-Acute/Family Medicine Unit at the Leduc Community Hospital.

The incumbent participates in the delivery of quality care by performing services necessary for the physical, emotional well-being and comfort of the patient.

The Health Care Aide will be able to work up to full scope of practice.

Duties include but are not limited to assisting patients with activities of daily living, personal care, heavy lifting and transferring and assisting with health care tasks/procedures as necessary.


Description:

As a Health Care Aide (HCA), you are responsible for providing personal assistance, supporting activities of daily living and providing comfort and support services to patients (clients, residents) who require short-term assistance or ongoing support.

You will work closely with patients, families, and caregivers spanning the continuum of care in home, community or health care facilities.

You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Must be able to read and write fluently in the English language and have basic computer skills. Effective communication skills, strong organizational skills, and teamwork.

Must be able to meet the physical and emotional demands of the job as some of the duties include long periods of physical activity such as standing, bending, walking, lifting, pushing, and pulling (heavy demands at times).

Portering duties also required.


Preferred Qualifications:

Experience caring for patients with Dementia is an asset. Rehabilitation of post-operative and medical patients in the Post-Acute setting and experience with acute care patients is preferred. Knowledge of CoACT and Connect Care is beneficial.
