    A Day in the Life...

    The Program Coordinator provides support and coordination for the Forensic Psychology and Criminal Justice (FPAC) program. Additionally, the incumbent provides accessible and personalized academic advising to undergraduate students in the FPAC Program, including recruitment, progression through degree requirements, retention, and completion. This position will report to the Director, Forensic Psychology and Criminal Justice.

    As theProgram Coordinator, you will:

    • Oversee registration and course enrolments for FPAC courses and working with supporting departments to ensure space for FPAC students in required courses;
    • Assist with the hiring and planning process for Teaching Assistant (TA) support for FPAC courses;
    • Participate in the development of the budget and curriculum for the FPAC program;
    • Participate as a member of the Program Committee;
    • Provide FPAC program approvals for student records, processing changes in degree major, course substitutions, letters of permission, exchange courses, transfer credits, program adjudications, applications to the thesis and practicum courses and graduation;
    • Attend University recruitment events (OUF, Fall Preview, Open House) and participate in orientation sessions for incoming students;
    • Provide accessible, personalized academic advising to undergraduate students for the FPAC program;
    • Monitor student progress and evaluate student records to ascertain if program requirements have been met;
    • Create individual program plans for students and provide referrals to other services such as Student Wellness and Accessibility Services, A-Z Learning Services, Student Awards, and Counselling Services;
    • Support faculty and the Experiential Education Coordinator for the Faculty of Social Sciences in matching students with practicum partners, helping students navigate the security clearance process, liaising with practicum partners, completing insurance paperwork for unpaid pactica and managing applications to do a thesis in 4th year;
    • Coordinate FPAC speaker series events, social media, and faculty-student events.

    What you need to Succeed...

    • Undergraduate degree (preferably in Social Sciences);
    • One to two years of experience with academic or personal counselling in a post-secondary environment;
    • A minimum of three years of experience in coordinating academic programs;
    • Knowledge of academic advising, including advising models, theories, and techniques, and counselling theories;
    • Knowledge of academic integrity policies and processes;
    • Understanding of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act;
    • Strong active listening, verbal, written, and interpersonal skills;
    • Demonstrate patience, empathy and understanding with the ability to communicate sensitive information tactfully and diplomatically;
    • Ability to interact with persons from divers backgrounds, with cultural and inclusion sensitivity;
    • Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, organizational, and prioritizing skills to meet deadlines for budget submissions, course scheduling, grade submissions, etc.;
    • Flexible and adaptable with high energy and ability to deal with a changing work environment.

    Salary and Benefit Information

    • Job Grade (K), Salary Scale ($57,-$98,)*;
    • Target hiring range: $57,-$62,
    • This position includes full comprehensive benefits including tuition waiver.

    *The salary range indicated is representative of all positions evaluated at this level. Actual salary is determined by assessing related skills, experience, internal equity and market competitiveness, subject to available budget.
