Position:
Seasonal Labourer


Position Profile:

The seasonal Labourer will work alongside with Bobby's Birches' employees to maintain grounds of property using hand or power tools and/or equipment.

Workers typically perform a variety of tasks, which may include any combination of the following:
sod laying, mowing, trimming, planting, watering, fertilizing, digging, raking and weeding. _______________________________________

Major Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Operate vehicles and powered equipment, such as mowers, tractors, twinaxel vehicles, chain saws, electric clippers and sod cutters
  • Mow or edge lawns, using power mowers or edgers
  • Care for established laws by aerating, weeding, grubbing, removing thatch, or trimming or edging around flower beds, walks or walls
  • Use hand tools, such as shovels, rakes, saws, hedge or brush trimmers, or axes.
  • Remove trees, trim trees, shrubs, or hedges, using shears or chain saws.
  • Gather and remove litter.
  • Hauling.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, or structures, such as buildings, fences, or benches, using hand or power tools.
  • Qualified labourers will spray fertilizers, herbicides, or insecticides onto grass, shrubs, or trees, using hand or automatic sprayers or spreaders.
  • Provide proper upkeep of sidewalks, driveways, parking lots, fountains, planters, burial sites, or other ground features.
  • Trim or pick flowers and clean flower beds
  • Blow/rake leaves.
  • Follow planned landscaping designs to determine where to lay sod, sow grass or plant flowers or foliage.
  • Haul or spread topsoil or spread straw over seeded soil to hold soil in place.
  • Advise customers on plant selection and care.
  • Plan or cultivate lawns or gardens.
  • Attach wires from planted trees to support stakes.
  • Drivers of the company vehicles/machinery are responsible to check oil daily (log on check sheet) and keep vehicles neat and tidy

Job Related Competencies

  • Pesticide Application and Dispenser Training an asset
  • Valid Class 5

Salary:
From $20.00 per hour


Flexible Language Requirement:

  • French not required

Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • Saskatoon, SK S7M 2K5: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

Experience:

- construction: 1 year (preferred)
