Job Summary:


Reporting to the Supervisor of Technical & Design Services, this position will provide CADD support and technical expertise for regional infrastructure replacement projects.


Duties & Responsibilities:


  • Create maps for various groups within Halton Region.
  • Conduct project research from internal and external sources.
  • Compile and complete engineering base plan drawings.
  • Create water and wastewater design drawings and supporting documentation as required.
  • Perform engineering calculations and field edits as required.
  • Understanding of relevant standards and legislated regulations.
  • Check drawings for compliance to standards.
  • Correspond and work in conjunction with utilities, local municipalities and government agencies.
  • Attend project meetings.
  • Update drawings to "As Constructed" status. Archive "As Constructed" drawings.
  • Support Project Managers and Management staff as required.
  • Participate in job rotations/shadowing within the various teams of Technical Services.
  • Supports CADD Specialist II as required.

Skills & Qualifications:


Essential

  • Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology from an OACETT accredited college or other recognized institution.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of relevant experience.
  • Proven skills with AutoCAD and Civil 3D software including pipe networks, volumes, grading and ditches.
  • Experienced with Microsoft Office products including Word and Excel.
  • Possess strong analytical/mathematical skills and communication skills.

Preferred:


  • Municipal design experience utilizing Civil 3D.
  • Skills with Civil3D sections, assemblies and corridor modeling.
  • Municipal experience in design, survey or inspection.

  • Incumbent will attend design and construction site visits and meetings as required within Halton Region.
  • This position has prolonged periods of sitting.
