About the Position
Position Requirements
years quantity food preparation experience in a health care setting
- Recent/current quantity cooking experience in an institutional setting
- Grade 12 education
- Must demonstrate ability to read, speak and write in English and perform basic math skills
- Must demonstrate food knowledge in relation to clinical diets
- Excellent food handling skills
- Must perform a variety of physical duties including bending, twisting, lifting, walking, standing for long periods and carry weights up to 30 lbs.
- Strong teamwork skills
- Excellent attendance record
- Able to work in extreme heat and humidity
- Valid Safe Food Handling Certificate
Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepare quantities and types of foods as ordered on count sheets for residents in accordance with safe food handling techniques.
- Prepare hot breakfast items, hot lunch/dinner entrees, soups, sauces, vegetables, puree entrée and vegetable and baked goods in accordance with manufacturer's instructions and or standardized recipes
- Work towards established deadlines.
- Order appropriate quantities of product from freezer.
- Maintains a clean, tidy and sanitized work area, including equipment
- Responsible for taking and recording food temperatures and taking appropriate action if not correct and saving/storing samples of highrisk food items.
- Communicates shortages/product concerns with Supervisor and demonstrates problem solving skills.
- Adherence to all health and safety policies, procedures and provisions and the recognition and reporting of unsafe hazards and work practices.

Salary:
$20.00 per hour
Schedule:
- 8 hour shift
- Day shift
Experience:
- cooking: 3 years (preferred)
Licence/Certification:
- Food Safe, SafeCheck, Food Handler or equivalent (preferred)
