- Ensure on-site operations are conducted in accordance with corporate policies and procedures, within permit conditions and to customer specifications with a significant focus on health and safety
- Strong focus on safety, maintenance, and housekeeping in accordance with company and regulatory requirements
- Report all incidents, safety infractions, non-compliance issues and participate in the investigation and development of corrective actions
- Ensure internal and external training is up to date for Operators.
- Ensure Job Task Observations (JTO's) are completed and up to date for Operators.
- Conduct training as required
- Supervise daily operations, providing feedback, coaching and leadership to the operating team
- Lead, motivate and develop direct reports utilizing Job Task Observations (JTO's), Vital 9s and Hazard Assessments to reinforce or correct specific behaviors
- Monitor compliance for direct reports to internal policies and applicable regulations and legislations
- Participate in the recruitment process and support the onboarding and training of new hires
- Plan, assign, direct and monitor work for Operators based on client requirements
- Maintain and implement standard operating procedures (SOP's/SWP's)
- Identify and recommend continuous improvements to processes and procedures
- Support the site's Environmental Management System (EMS) and our Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) Program
- Ensure all visitors to the site (Contractors, brokers, etc.) are complying with site and corporate safety policies
- Ensure the compliance of all contractors' site compliance utilizing Field Level hazard Assessments and Safe Work Permits
- Post-secondary education would be considered an asset
- Minimum of three (3) years in a leadership, managerial, supervisory, or lead hand role
- Related industrial services operational experience preferred with knowledge of waste management and environmental services
- Experience in a union environment is an asset
- Knowledge of production management processes, manufacturing equipment and preventative
maintenance principles - Ability to develop safe operating procedures
- Computer skills including Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, OMS and Workday
- Proven organization, time management and problem solving skills
- Ability to work evenings and/or weekends, when required.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and customer service skills

Summary
Reporting directly to the Sydney District Manager, the Operations Supervisor is responsible for creating a zero-harm environment, maintaining efficient day-to-day operations, and for the effective supervision of Operators at our Sydney and Port Hawkesbury Industrial Services locations.
