About Us
The Strategic Business Management Branch provides strategic support to the legal services branches in all ministries and a number of agencies, in achieving business goals and program initiatives.
It provides direction in the areas of legal planning and coordination, communications, strategic operational and resource planning, technology development and support and workforce planning.
The Legal Information Services / Library Services Unit supports Ministry staff in meeting their legal information needs by providing specialized legal research support and projects; hosting virtual and in-person training on legal research tools and skills; and procuring and managing access to online and print legal resources in a sustainable and fiscally responsible manner.

What can I expect to do in this role?:
- Provide leadership for the provision of technical advisory and support services to management
- Provide senior management with information, analysis, and advice to support corporate decisionmaking, legal, regulatory and policy compliance, and annual business and budget planning processes.
- Design and implement strategies to effect change and transformation
- Lead projects and provides technical leadership for client business technology development
- Perform effective risk and performance assessments and ensure continuous improvement
How do I qualify?:
Strategic and Organizational Skills:
- You have knowledge of strategic planning methodologies to develop strategic options with a fulsome costbenefit view and/or service design principles and trends
- You have organizational development and performance consulting skills, including incident management, change management, group dynamics, team development, competencybased performance models, leadership development, and employee motivation.
- You can identify options, develop I&IT solution proposals and business cases, and evaluate contractors.
Consultation Skills:
- You have consultation and advisory skills to coordinate, advise, guide, persuade and support Ministry business area management in I&IT operational and strategic matters (e.g. concerning structured approaches to technology upgrades and renewals)
- You have experience in all aspects of I&IT services, service management framework and service level agreements, including vendor/supplier performance management and monitoring methods and tools
- You have excellent presentation and persuasion skills to brief and advise senior executives on critical program business and financial performance
Analytical and Problem Solving Skills:
- You have proven research, analytical concepts, and techniques to conduct data analysis and derive strategic insights, conceptual and problemsolving skills to deconstruct complex issues and develop the strategic assessment.
- You can determine client business needs, assess business processes and requirements, conduct costbenefit analyses, identify opportunities for improvements, evaluate current and future needs, assess resource requirements, make recommendations to clients, and translate requirements into appropriate information technology solutions that meet time and budget constraints and conform to corporate and Ministry I & IT policies and strategies
Negotiation Skills:
- You have persuasion and negotiating skills to generate an appreciation of technology concepts (e.g. structured approaches to upgrades)
