Billings and Accounts Manager Job Description


Reporting to the Director of Finance, The Billings and Accounts Manager will lead and direct the day to day functions of the physician billings and accounts department including managing a team of 5 staff.

The Manager, working collaboratively with all medical office assistants ensures timely submission of billings and accounts reconciliation.

Responsible for all processes with medical claims ensuring timelines are met as billings are time sensitive and manager will ensure the team is tracking and following up as required.

Responsibilities_**
_ Managing Daily Receipts_

  • Includes billing for all Manitoba Clinic MD's are accurately inputted and reconciled.
  • Creating a dally submission file for all previous day billings and uploading this file to MB Health.
  • Correct and investigate partial pays and rejections of claims bimonthly from payment files. This involves coding of correct revenue providers.
  • Processing payments from previously invoiced claims.
  • Processing all honorariums, Oncall, and stipend payments to physicians.

_Remittance Procedures bi-monthly_

  • Ensuring payment totals are consistent between Manitoba Health and Libre.
  • Unmatched claims are matched correctly within the system.
  • Managing previously queried claims, drawbacks, and credits.

_Unsubmitted claims_

  • Reviewing all outstanding claims in all physicians' daily claims to ensure all billings are being submitted.
  • Overseeing new tariffs/fee increases from Manitoba Health, from implementation to data base to ensure staff are well informed of such.
  • Assisting Doctor's Office Assistants/ and Physicians with billing questions and problems.
  • Queries prepared to Manitoba Health with corrections of claims submitted incorrectly. Resubmission of claims to Manitoba health with correct information to ensure claim is paid with accuracy.
  • Managing claims against Manitoba Health 6month cutoff deadline for claims to be submitted.

_Qualifications_

  • Experience with Clinical Billings and Manitoba Health
  • Indepth knowledge of EMR (LibreMD or Accuro) and MB Health Medical billing best practices
  • Ability to implement change along with leadership skills
  • Accounting, Billing and data entry are an asset
  • Excellent active listening, negotiation and presentation skills
  • Competence to build and effectively manage interpersonal relationships at all levels of the company
