Day Camp Leader (Temporary - up to 3 months)
Parks, Recreation and Facilities Department
An exciting opportunity exists within our Parks Recreation and Facilities Department for Day Camp Leaders.
We are looking for creative and enthusiastic individuals with a keen interest in recreation, the outdoors, and a passion for teaching children.
Those with Water Safety Instructor Certification or Life Saving Society certification are encouraged to apply.Here are the various day camps that Day Camp Leaders may run:
Swim n' Splash Camps (8-10 yrs) (Crystal Pool): Staff need to have a love for the water and have experience with swimming and various water sports for Swim n' Splash. NLS and WSI certifications are beneficial. Spend summer days helping kids learn swimming skills and have fun in the water. These camps also include a mix of sports, crafts, games, and swimming
Teen & Leadership Camps (Crystal Pool and Offsite): Staff must have capacity to lead day, week and/or overnight camps
Topics include:
strategy games, initiative tasks, nature appreciation, camping and leadership development. You will need skills such as; outdoor pursuits, team-building, problem-solving, risk management, leadership and public relations. Successful applicants will need a strong ability to interact and connect with teens.
My First Summer Camp (3-5 yrs):Experience working with preschool aged children is essential for this camp along with a sound knowledge of crafts, games, and outdoor activities suitable for this age range. ECE or ECE assistant certification is an asset.
KEY DUTIES
QUALIFICATIONS
Current Standard First Aid and CPR C are required.
A Class 4 Driver's License is an asset.
Successful applicants will be required to provide criminal record clearance as a condition of employment.
Work schedule:
Monday - Friday, up to 40 hours per week
$21.88 per hour, Pay Grade 103
