The People Services team provides shared operational and advisory support to the business and to colleagues across the People Function, providing the foundations of HR throughout the employee lifecycle.

The HR (People Relations) Advisor plays a vital role in the People Services function, providing key services to the business and the broader People function and offering impeccable employee experience across all People processes and services, with an aim to make the lives of those we work with brilliant.

The purpose of this role is to deliver professional People Relations Advisory support within the business, actively manage issues as they arise, take ownership of the employee life cycle and be the first line of advice to the business areas in your remit.

You will play an active role in creating an energizing and cohesive workplace environment, actively flagging opportunities to improve processes and business outcomes, while ensuring De Beers Group operates within the legal requirements but also in the spirit of the brand.

This position requires a detail-oriented, resourceful, and reliable individual who can work in a fluid environment while managing multiple priorities.

You will have proven experience of building strong working relationships and providing advice on any organizational change, employee relations and people-related issues, including matters relating to employment, compensation and benefits and first-line employee relations.

Experience and familiarity with operations at a remote site is preferable.

The position could be based at the Gahcho Kué Mine site in the Northwest Territories on a fly-in/fly-out, four-day on three-day off rotation (on an employee charter flight from Yellowknife (living in Yellowknife)).

The position may also be based at the Calgary Support Centre located at the Calgary Airport Corporate Centre with regular travel to the mine site.

The Calgary office currently works a hybrid schedule, with both in-office days and working from home days on a five day on two day off rotation.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Working closely with the People Partner, HR Analysts, HR Advisors and Payroll, to provide day to day HR support for the Gahcho Kué Mine Site;
  • Developing collaborative relationships with the business supervisory teams, to understand the daytoday business needs and challenges, site/location specific culture, hiring processes and compensation practices;
  • Actively supporting relevant People agenda projects (culture, behaviour, organizational change, I&D), champion Team + behaviours and work with peers from across the business to deliver against measurable outcomes while helping to mitigate associated risks;
  • Supporting and driving change management implementations and People initiatives, working with the relevant People Partners and senior sponsors to assure a compliant and risk mitigated process that delivers effectively on business requirements;
  • Interfacing with the wider People Operations team, sharing business updates to ensure a smooth operating rhythm meets the needs of the business area, working closely with People leaders to maintain effective and efficient service;
  • Providing operational People support by giving first level advice to mine site supervisors and employees on key people management/HR processes and policies, responding to onsite HR queries, completing HR forms accurately and timely for processing, problem solving where needed and triaging more complex matters as necessary, and providing excellent and timely customer service;
  • Troubleshooting and responding to employee inquiries which are triaged from the internal central HR inbox;
  • Consulting with Supe
