The Mechanical Estimator, reporting to the Construction Department Manager, is responsible for identifying and managing tender opportunities to successfully secure bids and proposals for Commercial/Industrial and high-rise Residential jobs in the Ontario Region. This role will oversee pricing and estimating for bid & spec projects, design-build projects, and budgets.


Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Searches for new tendering opportunities.
  • Identifies labour, materials, and time requirements by studying proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documents.
  • Computes costs by analyzing labour, materials, and time requirements.
  • Manages the tender closings.
  • Maintains cost database by entering and backing up data on CRM.
  • Conducts takeoffs.
  • Investigate and quotes special projects.
  • Attends site meetings.
  • Fosters and maintains positive relations and communications with clients, coworkers, and subcontractors.
  • All other duties as assigned to meet Company objectives.

Working Conditions

  • Travel may be required to carry out onsite investigation.
  • Ability to attend and conduct presentations and meetings.
  • Manual dexterity is required to use desktop computer and peripherals.
  • Overtime as required.
  • Lifting or moving up to 20 lbs may be required.

Tools & Technology

  • Mobile and laptop computer
  • MS Office suite software (Excel, Word, Outlook, MS CRM)
  • Experience working with Trimble and Accubid would be an asset.
