***: As a key member of our Payroll Team, you will be responsible for the complete, accurate and timely preparation and processing of our in-house hourly and salary payrolls. This includes preparation of all government remittances, cheque requisitions, reconciling payroll and benefit accounts as well as year-end processing.WHAT YOU WILL DO:
- Responsible for the weekly processing of full cycle biweekly/weekly payrolls, following the ICFR process and in accordance with current payroll taxing legislation, labor regulations and union agreements.
- Works closely with HR designates in assigned locations to ensure information is entered accurately and received by predetermined cut offs.
- Responsible for validating information entered for new hires, positions/rate changes, and terminations.
- Enters, updates, and verifies payroll transaction entries. Ensures payroll processing information received is saved by following payroll processes.
- Working as part of a larger team, acts as backup and support for payroll processing for other payroll team members when required.
- Ensures all court ordered maintenance and garnishments are entered, processed, and remitted accurately.
- Processes deductions/reimbursements for benefit programs such as safety shoes, work apparel, union leaves, and other programs as required.
- Responsible for all payroll deductions remittances, ex. united way, union dues.
- Reconciles and submits all government remittances.
- Provides support for completion of quarterly and/or yearend reporting, T4/W2 processing.
- Process and submit employee ROE's (CDN).
- Provide data to payroll tax team when required to support withholding filings.
- Reconciles and prepares monthly benefit billings for payment (CDN).
- Prepares regular payroll reporting and ad hoc payroll reports as required.
- Deals with general inquiries, questions, and concerns from employees regarding payroll and benefits.
- Maintains payroll operations by following policies and procedures and carry out other administrative duties as assigned.
WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:
- Post-secondary education or equivalent Human Resources experience.
- Certificate in Payroll Management, Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP), or Certified Payroll Manager (CPM) an asset.
- 13 years of payroll processing experience preferred.
- Experience with inhouse payroll processing an asset.
- Experience in US payroll processing with multistate jurisdictions an asset but not required.
- Knowledge of Highline Personality Payroll Program would be an asset.
- Ability to organize and prioritize tasks to meet strict deadlines.
- High level of confidentiality and attention to detail.
- Good knowledge of Excel, Word and Outlook.
- Ability to meet deadlines and works in a fastpaced environment.
