HOURS OF WORK:8-hour shift, midnight to 0800hrs


RATE OF PAY:
$17.17 per hour

Immediate opening


JOB SUMMARY:


To be in a Security Guard position, responsible to the Commissionaire Site Supervisor for the efficient and effective overnight operation of security at Quinte Consolidated Courthouse, located in Belleville, ON.


REQUIRED SKILLS:

- must have excellent interpersonal communication skills,
- ability to communicate in a calm and confident manner when dealing with staff, military visitors, contractors, or the general public,
- ability to interact with the client in a concise and professional manner,
- must possess excellent written communication and computer skills, including experience with all Microsoft products i.e. Word, Excel, Access and Outlook,
- must have a comprehensive knowledge of client buildings including all locations and building layouts,
- ability to work as part of a team or independently.


RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Represent the Commissionaires and the client professionally at all times,
  • Provide information to building staff, visitors, police services and the general public, as required,
  • Routinely interact with building staff, police services, building contractors, and the general public,
  • Control the issuing and receiving of keys, as well as maintaining, auditing, and enforcing key control procedures, as required,
  • Respond promptly to emergency situations including contacting and interacting with all forms of emergency services personnel,
  • Be familiar with alarms and procedures associated with site/building security,
  • Maintain various access lists, logs, and registers, as required,
  • Provide counter service, as required,
  • Conduct foot/vehicle patrols, as required,
  • Generate appropriate security reports, as required,
  • Maintain a dialogue with the Site Supervisor at all times,
  • Must read and follow site instructions & SOPs,
  • Must be able to take direction from the Belleville Police Service (BPS),
  • Must engage the BPS regarding any security breach, illegal activity, security issues or suspicious activity,
  • Monitor and immediately report damages to the site, tampering, mechanical breakdowns or issues, facility alarms,
  • Perform daily handovers with the BPS ensuring handovers are recorded in the daily Guard Report
identification system for MAG and non-MAG staff, temporary staff and sub-contractors working on-site

  • Immediately report damages to the site, tampering, mechanical breakdowns or issues, facility alarms
  • Respond to alarms or requests for assistance, engaging and assisting the BPS as required
  • Monitor firefighting equipment,
  • Secure doors and windows and switch off lights,
  • Monitor and operate surveillance and alarm systems,
  • Complete daily Guard Reports and Incident Report,
  • Administer scheduled locking and unlocking routines,
  • Administer and manage Lost and Found Property, and
  • Perform any other required security related duties, as detailed by the Site Supervisor and/or client.

Level 1
