The Student Success Centre in the Student Experience and Support is currently seeking a Full-time Regular Student Support Program Analyst.


Reporting to the Manager, Academic Integrity and Success Initiatives, the Student Support Program Analyst collaborates with Student Success Centre (SSC) Managers and program coordinators to collate, analyze, and report on a variety of unit-based and institutional data sources required to support SSC strategic initiatives and program delivery, including early alert and academic integrity data.

In addition, a key function of the role is to work with the Academic Development Specialist (Academic Turnaround Lead) to develop and carry out streamlined communication, program implementation, and records management for ATP, a core program offered within the SSC.


This position requires the ability to manage multiple priorities, maintain confidentiality, and work collaboratively with student services staff across units, as well as the Office of the Registrar, the Taylor Institute for Teaching and Learning, and the Office of Institutional Analysis and Information Technologies.

This is a full-time, regular position and is included in the AUPE Collective Bargaining Unit. Normal working hours are 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

Summary of Key Responsibilities (job functions include but are not limited to):

Program Support


Works with the Academic Development Specialist (Academic Turnaround Lead) to coordinate administrative, communication and data tracking aspects of the Academic Turnaround Program, including streamlining processes, creating and overseeing D2L course shells and managing backend communication systems, supporting the ATP application process, supporting registration processes for Academic Turnaround Program seminars, and establishing and implementing systematic approaches to program queries from students in-person or via email.

Recommends and implements automated and streamlined strategies for managing data tracking, sorting, and communication plans for students within the ATP program.

SSC Data Analysis and Reporting


Works with the SSC Director to conduct an ongoing review of Thrive (Early Alert) system data and engages with gradebook D2L Data Hub to identify trends in gradebook usage and recommend system improvements in collaboration with Information Technologies, the Registrar's Office, the Taylor Institute, and the Student Success Centre team.

Supports the Manager, Academic Integrity and Success Initiatives, with data analysis of annual academic integrity reporting.
Ensures adherence to privacy and responsible use and storage of all data and reports generated.

Maintains a current and broad knowledge of developments in the field of data analysis and advises working group chairs on options related to data analysis and presentation.

Takes an active role in working with SSC on high-priority projects to identify and streamline assessment practices and data management to achieve effective operational and reporting outcomes as required.

Collaboration and Support for SES Working Groups


Works directly with Chairs of current SES Strategic Plan-related Working Groups to identify necessary and relevant sources of data to support the mandate of each group and co-creates a plan for obtaining, cleaning, analyzing, and visualizing data tailored to each working group's needs.

Liaises with a variety of areas on campus to retrieve relevant sources of institutional data to support data analysis projects, including the Office of the Registrar, the Taylor Institute for Teaching and Learning, and the Office of Institutional Analysis and Information Technologies.


Qualifications / Requirements:
Undergraduate degree in Data Science, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering, or related field.

2 years of experience in data analysis, including the cleaning, analysis, and presentation of large datasets required; experience in data analysis within a postsecondary environment is an asset.

Advanced knowledge of and specific experience with a variety of data organization, analysis, and visualization software (Microsoft Access, Excel, Power BI, and SPSS) required.

Familiarity with Learning Management Systems and teaching and learning software, such as Desire2Learn required.
Strong expertise and ability to adapt quickly and adjust to shifting data needs.
Strong problem-solving skills, sound judgment, and decision-making capabilities.
Excellent interpersonal skills along with an ability to work effectively independently and collaboratively.

A thorough understanding of the functionality of large relational databases is required; familiarity with PeopleSoft for higher education is an asset.

Accuracy and attention to detail are essential, with the ability to spot errors and inconsistencies in data and reports.
Ability to approach work tasks with flexibility and effectively manage multiple timelines while remaining positive.
