Ashbury College is a leading not-for-profit independent day and boarding school for
students in Grades 4 to 12 located in Canada's capital and the traditional, unceded
territory of the Anishinàbe Algonquin Nation. We serve a diverse community of over 60
nationalities from around the National Capital Region, the diplomatic community, and
international and domestic boarding students.

Located in central Ottawa, Ashbury College is currently seeking a full-time
Advancement Officer to expand our parent and alumni fundraising networks and their
related activities. The Advancement Officer also provides support to other facets of our
Advancement office.

Reporting to the Associate Director of Development, you will work closely with other
members of our Advancement and Communications teams to identify and re-connect
alumni with the college and each other and support our Parents' Guild in their

fundraising and community building activities. This is a highly engaged position, with a
focus on planning and coordinating events, community building, and staff and volunteer
relations.


Specific responsibilities include:

  • Contribute to the development of the annual Alumni Relations plan
  • Work closely with the Alumni Executive towards organizing events and activities.
  • Collect and update alumni contact information and administer our Alumni web
- presence (including posting e-newsletter, website and social media content).
  • Promote future alumni participation with current Ashbury students, and host

- alumni school visits.
  • Support the development of the Ashbury Parents Guild annual plan, organize
- identified events and initiatives, and oversee financial and activity reporting.
  • Coordinate Alumni and Parent Guild participation in Ashbury community events
  • Solicit event sponsors, and support solicitation efforts from volunteers.
You hold a related designation from a recognized post-secondary institution and / or
professional certification such as a Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE) designation.
While you may be relatively new to the field of Advancement, your career development
to date has included event and meeting planning, building community networks, and
soliciting donated goods and services.

Your demonstrated skills, knowledge and experience include:

  • Knowledge of emerging trends in alumni and volunteer relations and
engagement strategies

  • Demonstrated success with student / parent / alumni / donor communications
and outreach

  • Effective use of social media best practices and engagement strategies
  • Collaborating successfully with a wide variety of individuals and publics
