ABOUT THE ROLE
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Adapt and promote lean manufacturing principals.
- Update and monitor departmental goals (KPI's). Track progress, and implement corrective actions where necessary to meet targets.
- Actively involved in developing business plans and cost reduction initiatives to meet company objectives.
- Develop detailed procedures for all aspects of the production floor
- Support training activities for direct reports.
- Proactively identify potential business issues and/or supply constraints, work with appropriate teams to develop recovery plans and escalate, as appropriate
- Participate in the APQP process, manage ramp up of new work/ramp down of current production to service levels while working closely with outside suppliers and internal production, quality, and engineering teams.
- Responsibility for daily plant production operations and employees including product quality and timeliness of production to support customer delivery.
- Adopt and promote lean manufacturing principles.
- Coach and provide positive reinforcement to production organization
- Utilize a management style that utilizes and develops Amsted Ideal Behaviors
- Responsible to develop, maintain and report on the Goals & Objective measurables as they relate to the production operations
- Responsible to develop, support and promote the 5'S' and Elimination of Waste programs related to the production operations
- Recommend and lead improvements in productivity, quality, and efficient delivery of products and services.
- Establish goals to maximize efficiency and to promote employee empowerment
- Evaluate overall shop floor performance and implement corrective actions; based on production reports, quarterly and annual reports, and feedback from employees
- Other duties as assigned by the Plant Manager
WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED
- Minimum of five years' experience in manufacturing, with concentration on production operations management. Experience in fast paced automotive environment preferred.
- Must be able to make ethical decisions that meet company objectives.
- Excellent communication skills are needed for internal and external customer and supplier contact.
- Must be able to work necessary overtime if required.
- Proactive management style with an energetic, goal oriented approach
- Strong organizing and planning skills with the ability to plan ahead to avoid potential production/delivery problems
- Possess working knowledge of IATF 16949, ISO 14001, and Q1 compliance criteria
