    Description

    Manga Hotel Group is a privately held Canadian company involved in the acquisition, development, and management of real estate with a focus on high quality hotels affiliated with prestigious brands such as Marriott, Hilton, Hyatt, and InterContinental Hotel Group. Currently, Manga Hotels owns and operates 28 hotels with over 5000 rooms, 15 food and beverage outlets and 5 residential properties with a number of new properties and developments in the pipeline.

    As Manga Hotel Group continues to expand, we are actively seeking talented individuals to join our growing team. As Director of Development, you will be managing cross-functional teams from concept to design development, contract administration and business development. You will work on zoning applications, building permits, and site approvals for various projects and oversee project development from inception to opening for multiple sites.

    Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

    Managing projects from inception to closure and leading tasks related to subdivision, OPA, rezoning, site plan application, design, building permits, construction oversight, budget control all while respecting timelines and business plans;
    Managing internal and external teams involved in development and construction and liaising with and overseeing architects and other consultants;
    Reviewing, coordinating and managing project scheduling, budgeting, financial reporting, project documentation and control;
    Preparing, managing and delivering the planning requirements of projects through the various phases of the approval process across multiple projects;
    Preparing comprehensive project plans and business cases addressing scope, cost, schedules, resources, risk, benefits and quality expectations for several projects;
    Being directly involved in developing design concepts and maintaining design integrity through the production of technical drawings, site planning applications and any amendments or variations;
    Developing land development concepts, land use analysis, collaborating with local authorities and administering various phases of the development and construction process;
    Representing and advocating for Manga with various provincial and municipal authorities;
    Obtaining zoning and site plan approvals and working on any amendments and variations;
    Monitoring city policies, market trends, and the overall competitive landscape;
    Assessing and providing recommendations on the viability of new acquisitions and partnerships and other opportunities; and
    Help prepare weekly, monthly and quarterly reporting packages and metric information as required.

    Qualifications:

    · Minimum 8+ years of professional work experience in real estate development; ideally in Toronto, Ontario.
    · University degree in engineering, architecture, or a related-field and/or previous related experience in development planning.
    · Confident in your ability to read and interpret various land-use, surveyor, engineers and architectural drawings.
    · Possess working knowledge of the development approval process including Zoning, Site Plan Control, Building Permits, and other approvals necessary for project delivery including building codes, fire regulations, and other relevant laws and standards for compliance and safety.
    · The ability to work effectively with architects, engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders is key. Clear communication and collaboration skills help in coordinating various aspects of the project will be critical.
    · You understand budgets for real estate development projects, assess value engineering strategies.
    · Strong people skills help you to be a team player. You have proven your ability to build and maintain relationships at all levels of an organization with multidisciplinary teams.
    · Project Management: Ability to prepare and execute detailed plans and oversee the project to ensure it is completed on time and within budget. Skills in resource allocation, scheduling, and risk management are important to ensure there are no surprises and risks are being effectively managed.
    · Innovation and Problem-Solving Skills to solve unique challenges. Being able to think creatively and solve problems is important for overcoming obstacles and optimizing designs.
