Construction Safety Nova Scotia (CSNS) is an industry founded and funded membership based not-for-profit association focused on improving Occupational Health & Safety outcomes in the construction industry.

Driven by our values of relationships, quality, and innovation and with the support of the Board of Directors, the CSNS team enables a safer construction industry by engaging with the membership organizations to reduce injuries and improve safety culture.

CSNS provides subsidized training and services with qualified, competent, and engaging safety professionals.

Working with diverse construction employers & employees, youth, and people throughout Nova Scotia, CSNS enables stakeholders to develop the knowledge, values, and skills needed for safer work practices.

OVERVIEW OF THE ROLE
CSNS provides training and services with qualified, competent, and engaging safety professionals.

Working with construction employers & employees, youth, and people throughout Nova Scotia, CSNS enables stakeholders to develop the knowledge, values, and skills needed for safer work practices.

CSNS offers a variety of training, auditing, advocacy, return to work and mentoring programs through various offerings in accordance with Occupational Health & Safety Legislation.

ISO 9001 standards guide CSNS's practice to be compliant, safe, and efficient for CSNS members and the province.


Under the direction of and reporting to the Director, Quality and Innovation and in partnership with the Manager, Safety Services, the Manager, Projects and Programs plays a key role in advancing existing programs and new initiatives within the safety mandate.

In collaboration with the CSNS leadership and service delivery teams, the Manager, Projects and Programs is accountable to ensure that internal service delivery teams are equipped with the content, tools and support to deliver on member requirements.

By collaboratively assessing internal and external requirements, providing oversight, and managing the continuous improvement and development of existing and new programs, services and initiatives, the Manager, Projects and Programs plays a key role in evolving the enabling CSNS's ability enhance safety in the construction industry.


EDUCATION, CREDENTIALS, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Post Secondary education in relevant discipline (Occupational Health and Safety, Business, Health, Information Technology, Engineering, etc.)
  • Proven experience, with a minimum of 5+ years in project and program development, management, and execution.
  • Excellent project management skills to plan, coordinate, and execute initiatives within a fast paced and deadline driven environment.
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Visio) and other collaborative tools.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is an asset.
  • Experience operating within a matrixed organizational structure is an asset.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Stays abreast of emerging business development, thought and technologies related safety programming, particularly in the construction sector.
  • Collaborates with the Leadership Team, Managers, Team Leads and OHS Advisors to understand and consolidate continuous improvement and business development opportunities to inform new program, training, and service delivery.
  • Partners with and enables the service delivery teams to lead improvement and development initiatives in anticipation of or in response to business development needs.
  • Identifies, coordinates, and optimizes divisional resource participation (people, finances, schedule, etc.) in service improvement projects, programs, and initiatives.
  • Plans, leads, coordinates, and oversees the implementation of complex internal and external stakeholderbased projects, programs, and deliverables.
  • Facilitates governance of projects and programs to ensure tasks are kept on schedule, managing budgets, and maintaining communication with all program stakeholders.
  • Develops, documents, provides, and presents project management documentation (plans, status reports, risk logs, etc.); communicates regularly with the organization to share progress, celebrate success, and seek advice/input.
  • Identifies any barriers, risks or issues impacting successful program execution and escalating as appropriate.
  • Facilitates and manages projects and programs performance metrics; creates and provides reports as required.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director, Quality and Innovation.
