About Us:


The Canadian National Exhibition (CNE), or The EX as it is also known, is Canada's largest community event and one of the top five agricultural fairs in North America.

Taking place over the 18 days leading up to and including Labour Day Monday, the CNE offers a wide variety of interactive entertainment experiences.

Attractions may include concerts, celebrity chef demonstrations, an acrobatic and ice skating show, midway rides and games, a farm, exhibits, food, shopping, and a three-day Air Show.

Founded in 1879, the CNE is a cherished tradition for the people of Toronto and surrounding communities and attracts approximately 1.5 million visitors annually.


Primary Role:


The Event Coordinator's primary focus will be to execute programs, events and activities to support the overall goals and objectives of the CNEA, this would include the CNE Fair and other CNEA produced events.


Major Responsibilities:


  • In conjunction with the Director of Programs, negotiate contracts with vendors and suppliers to ensure best pricing and service.
  • Oversee assigned programming during the fair and assist and support any other related programming as per Director of Programs.
  • Support in the planning and execution of CNEA produced external events including vendor management, venue selection, and event logistics, production and operational support, etc.
  • Assist in the research of emerging trends in a broad range of entertainment and social activities in order to deliver the most up to date external events and activities during nonfair periods.
  • Support all operational and technical components and trades (i.e., Labour, IATSE and Cleaning.) cost estimates for external events as well as Fair related assigned programming.
  • Participate in all aspects of event planning, from concept development to postevent analysis.
  • Work with all other departments as needed, but specifically with the Marketing team to create. event marketing materials and promotions.
  • Manage event timelines and ensure that events run smoothly.
  • Ensure that all events meet client expectations and are executed within budget and on schedule.
  • Manage event staff and delegate tasks to ensure event success.
  • Conduct post event analysis and identify areas for improvement.
  • Support other Program Managers as assigned by the Director of Programs, specifically the Program Manager, Entertainment, as required from time to time during the CNE and other CNEA produced events involving 3rd party entertainment.
  • Support the logistics involved with the movein and moveout of the programs as assigned.
  • Coordinate hospitality, accommodation, and transportation requirements as necessary.
  • Maintain a through understanding of industry trends.
  • Other general duties as assigned.

What you Bring to the Team:

  • Post-Secondary education in a discipline pertinent to the job function or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Event management experience dealing with largescale events is considered an asset.
  • Experience utilizing a variety of software packages including Microsoft Office and Outlook mail.
  • Strong organization, communication, and project management skills.
  • Excellent negotiation and vendor management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and/or in a team environment.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Attention to detail and a focus on delivering highquality events.
  • Proven customer service skills.
  • Flexibility to work outside of normal business hours, including weekends and evenings.
  • Ability to travel for events as needed.
