The Head Chef is a working leader with a passion for delivering an outstanding dining experience.

A hands on, enthusiastic Chef who manages all aspects of daily operations, including leading a team of cooks, prep cooks and kitchen stewards.

The Head Chef works very closely with the General Manager on budgetary requirements, as well as with the Head Server to ensure cohesive teamwork between Kitchen and Dining Room.

Leading by example, the Head Chef will elevate culinary team members with a high standard of professionalism and attention to detail.

Typical schedule is 11:00 AM - 7:00 PM on a regular basis with the flexibility to work a variety of shifts: days, evenings, weekends, and holidays on occasion.

Key accountabilities include, but are not limited to:

Leading the Culinary team to provide exemplary service for all residents.
Ordering and maintaining inventory of food and supplies.
Preparing, cooking and serving appealing meals in a safe and attractive manner.
Working within the budget and dietary constraints.
Menu adaptations as necessary.
Problem solving circumstances that arise with the menu or supplies.
Fostering a positive work environment, while supervising, coaching and developing members of the Culinary Team.
Interacting with Residents and soliciting feedback regarding their dining experience.
Maintaining knowledge of residents' special dietary requirements.

To qualify for this role, you will need:

Red Seal Certificate, completion of a training program from a recognized institution, or equivalent experience.
Hold a current Food Safety Certificate and be familiar with NS Food Safety Regulations.
Must demonstrate a creative flair for food preparation and presentation.
Must be an effective team leader who leads by example, delivering a high standard of customer service.
Must be able to work and communicate effectively with the team and residents.
Must be flexible to work various shifts including weekends and holidays.
Experience working in the hospitality and health care environment.
