The Role

Responsibilities

  • Conduct and provide technical specifications for field investigation programs, including drilling, well installation, and hydraulic testing.
  • Conduct remote and onsite supervision of drilling and hydraulic testing programs (including packer testing, slug testing and pumping tests) for national and international projects.
  • Provide lithological and geotechnical logging for drill core and drill cuttings.
  • Analysis and interpretation of hydraulic testing results using standard methods and software.
  • Conduct groundwater and surface water level monitoring and water quality sampling.
  • Management and interpretation of hydrogeological drilling and monitoring data.
  • Integrate hydrogeological data to develop conceptual hydrogeological models using 3D modelling software.
  • Prepare technical site investigation and conceptual modeling reports.
  • Liaise with our groundwater modeling team to ensure the conceptual model is properly represented in the numerical groundwater model.
  • Adhere to safe work practices and company/client guidelines and policies for planning and executing work in a safe manner.

Required Education and Experience

  • Postgraduate degree (M.Sc. or Ph.
D.) in hydrogeology or a related discipline, preferably with exposure to hydrogeological field work and numerical groundwater modeling.

  • The coursework and other credentials required to register as a professional geoscientist or engineer, or as a professional in training (GIT or EIT) with Engineers and Geoscientists BC.
  • Solid knowledge of geological and hydrogeological principles.
  • Minimum five years of experience in hydrogeological field work, including drilling supervision, monitoring well installation, and hydraulic testing.
  • Experience with lithological and geotechnical logging and drilling methods in overburden and bedrock, including Sonic, dual rotary and diamond drilling techniques.
  • Experience with providing technical specifications for hydrogeological site investigations.
  • A strong interest in the review and interpretation of a variety of groundwaterrelated data and information as part of conceptual modeling.
  • Exceptional communication skills in English and the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and nontechnical stakeholders.
  • Willingness to travel and conduct hydrogeological field programs.

Desired Skills

  • Experience with developing 3D hydrogeological conceptual models using software packages such as Leapfrog, GMS, and EVS.
  • Familiarity with groundwater flow modeling and solute transport modeling in FEFLOW or MODFLOW.
  • Experience managing, analyzing, and visualizing large data sets and developing databases related to groundwater and surface water systems using coding languages/software, such as R or Python.
  • Experience in the mining industry in general and mining hydrogeology in particular.
  • Solid background in hydrogeochemistry and analysis techniques of water quality data.
  • Good working knowledge of Spanish (verbal and written).

Salary:
$90,000.00-$120,000.00 per year
