Duties and responsibilities:


The Wood Products Supervisor, reporting to the Wood Products Senior Supervisor, will be responsible for contributing to the successful operation of the Wood Products Department, including customer relations, production scheduling, quality, safety and providing training and supervision for staff and clients.


Duties include:

  • Provide supervision, training and delegation of duties to area staff and clients
  • Supervise, perform and monitor work skills training for area clients
  • Ensure area procedures are followed to guarantee product quality, production efficiency and safe working conditions
  • Perform production activities; operate production and material handling equipment as required
  • Determine job layouts, new product designs, jig and fixture fabrication
  • Perform maintenance for area equipment
  • Shipping and receiving materials as required
  • Assumes Senior Supervisors duties and responsibilities in their absence
  • Other duties as assigned by Senior Supervisor

Qualifications:


Education:


  • High School Diploma
  • Journeyman Certification would be considered an asset
  • Disability Support Worker / Rehabilitation Worker Certificate would be considered an asset.

Experience:


  • Industrial, mechanical and/or woodworking experience
  • Forklift operator's certificate and WHMIS certification are considered assets

Skills:


  • Strong interpersonal skills and a desire to work effectively with individuals experiencing disabilities
  • Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with customers, suppliers, staff and clients
  • Working knowledge of current good manufacturing practices and woodworking equipment.
  • Strong supervisory, organizational and communication skills
