Job Purpose
Under the direction of the Settlement and Community Support Director, the Cultural Bridging Facilitator assists immigrant and refugee families to build community connections and networks by facilitating group and individual services and programs.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Programming_
- Provides crosscultural educational sessions to community partners, community members, various organizations and institutions on a variety of topics, including: cultural communication, cultural diversity, and cultural responsiveness.
- Develops informational training tools such as PowerPoint presentations, workshops, and educational materials.
- Community Involvement_
- Participates on external committees, fostering and maintaining relationships and partnerships with community health and social service providers.
- Administration_
- Provides crosscultural training to newcomer youth and families, as well as local communities.
- Provides program information and data by maintaining client records, preparing required reports, and conducting and reporting evaluations of program.
- Fosters equitable treatment of immigrants by keeping uptodate on policies and programs that impact immigrant settlement.
- Facilitates information sessions to staff to ensure quality service and collaborative work relationships; and acts as a resource person in identified area of expertise.
- Informs supervisor on emergent issues through regular reporting.
- Other duties as assigned._
Education and Experience
- Graduation from a postsecondary program in the Social Sciences, Humanities, Communications or Cultural Studies, and one year experience working in relevant area, OR
- Equivalent to one year of postsecondary training in the above noted fields, and three years of experience.
- Crosscultural training and experience.
- Experience in public speaking.
Required Licenses and/or Certifications
- Criminal Occurrence Security Check
- Must complete a Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check in good standing and within three months prior to first day of employment.
