About the program/department/team


The Experiential Learning (EL) Hub at Toronto Metropolitan University is one of six resources within the Centre for Excellence in Learning and Teaching.

Through a collaborative approach, the Centre fosters a community dedicated to big thinking about curriculum, pedagogy and creative ways of developing inclusive teaching practices that enrich the student learning experience.

The EL Hub is a gathering place for ideas, knowledge creation, and skill-building.

Driven by the values of equity, excellence, collaboration and impact, we support and provide resources for those interested in curating academically relevant experiential learning opportunities.

As the primary support for the experiential learning community at Toronto Met, we foster a culture of excellence and innovation in teaching, working to continually enhance student learning and community impact.

About Live Actor Simulation (LAS)

The opportunity


The Live Actor Simulation (LAS) program at Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) is currently seeking actors to join our team LAS delivers simulations in academic and industry environments that support and foster the development of strong interpersonal communication skills by providing high-quality, realistic simulated experiences.

We are seeking actors who are able to play characters of varying ages and genders.
- identify as women, Black, Indigenous or a racialized person, persons with disabilities, who will be integral towards serving our highly diverse learner population. If you identify in one of the former groups, we encourage you to self-identify in your cover letter.

Qualifications:


Live Actor Simulators at TMU must be 18 years of age or older, and available to work on an on-call basis during the weekdays.

Simulations may be requested multiple times and sometimes on the same day for different classes.

Skills Needed

  • Acting experience is helpful but not essential
  • Strong improvisational skills
  • Asset, but not required, previous experience in a training/learning environment (e.g. standardized patient)
Paid Training Provided

  • Individual rehearsal/training for simulations
  • Training in techniques used by simulators at LAS
