Weekend Crisis Intervention Worker - Hamilton, Canada - Native Women's Centre

OVERVIEW:
- The Weekend Crisis Intervention Worker, under the direction of the Executive Director, will provide physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual case management and direct supports to women and children seeking emergency shelter services.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Engaging with clients and community members in a respectful, nonjudgmental and supportive way that helps to improve their health and wellbeing, develop life skills, increase their sense of belonging, and build resilience;
- Develop and implement monthly programming (i.e. life skills development, recreation and outings) assistance in the gathering and development of traditional and nontraditional resource material.
- Incorporate Indigenous Culture as a way of being and knowing in the organization;
- Complete intakes, safety plans, case notes, incident reports, plans of care, etc. within transitional housing environment.
- Participating in case conference(s) / review(s) and all relevant case management meetings.
- Reporting all disclosures, safety plans and serious occurrences to appropriate contact.
- Performing light cleaning, laundry, and cooking duties;
QUALIFICATIONS:
- College diploma in social services or closely related field and a minimum of 3 years' experience in associated field;
- Knowledge and experience working with a range of issues impacting youth, women and children including homelessness, violence against women and children, poverty, mental health and substance use;
- Demonstrates Indigenous cultural competency including awareness, knowledge and understanding of the impacts of colonialism and systemic issues;
- Case management and program development experience. Including knowledge of various resources to support people with diverse needs to achieve their goals;
- Knowledge of deescalation techniques, harm reduction, and crisis management;
- Intermediate computer literacy skills including Microsoft office suite and databases;
- Nonviolent Crisis Intervention and Trauma Informed Training;
- Knowledge and understanding of the Child and Family Services Act.
- Must have or obtain, within 30 days of hiring date, a Vulnerable Sector CPIC.
SALARY:
$22.00/hr
