Lumacare is seeking a highly experienced and motivated Human Resources Manager to join our team.

The Human Resources Manager will provide direction and leadership to our Human Resources and Volunteer Department staff and provide coaching and mentoring strategies to ensure quality and excellence in customer service and care.

This role will implement strategies, plan, organize, and directs all human resource activities at Lumacare including, policy development, conflict resolution, performance management issues, recruitment and selection, staff training and education, Continuous Quality Improvement practices (CQI), salary and benefits administration.


Your role will involve:


  • Providing direction and leadership to the Human Resources and Volunteer Department, including coaching and mentoring strategies and ensuring the implementation of quality service.
  • Building and leading the recruitment and talent attraction systems for employees and volunteers with an eye for the current and future staffing needs of Lumacare.
  • Enhancing staff performance through continuous training/educational sessions, performance coaching, regular monitoring meetings, and adherence to best practices.
  • Developing and implementing HR policies and procedures that align with the company's strategic goals and comply with all applicable laws and regulations.
  • Overseeing the HR budget, including recruitment, training, and employee engagement, ensuring we are within budget.
  • Managing HR reporting and KPI metrics for compensation, training, recruitment, and employee headcount.
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with vendors and the community including but not limited to employment agencies, universities/colleges, community organizations, employment verification, and talent agencies.
  • Managing compensation and rewards programs, including developing a highimpact rewards and recognition system.
  • Managing the performance management systems and processes.
  • Managing all benefit programs including health plans, disability, and RRSP plans.
  • Providing coaching and guidance to Managers and Supervisors on employeerelated issues, guiding them through navigating the performance recovery process and tools.
  • Overseeing and monitoring all Occupational Health and Safety programs to ensure legislative compliance.
  • Networking and establishing external partnerships for benchmarking and efficiencies.
  • Participating in the accreditation cycle planning and preparation, supporting the ongoing development of a culture of safety, excellence in quality care, and risk management.
  • Ensuring compliance with all employment laws and regulations, researching and developing policies, procedures, methods, and guidelines as needed.

Qualifications:


  • A Bachelor's degree with a major in Business Administration, Commerce, Human Resources or a related field.
  • 5+ years of progressive Human Resources experience.
  • A minimum of 35 years of experience in a leadership capacity within HR.
  • Knowledge and work experience with Employee Relations, Training, Benefits, Compensation, and Employee Communications.
  • Experience in leading Health & Safety initiatives across multiple locations.
  • Welldeveloped coaching and leadership skills, both on a formal and informal basis.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical and problemsolving skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Human Resources Certification is an asset.
  • Valid Ontario Driver's License and access to a vehicle is required.
  • Current Vulnerable Sector Police check (completed within last 12 months).
  • Knowledge of healthcare or nonprofit organizations is an asset.


This position requires you to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and you must provide Lumacare with proof of vaccination prior to employment.
