Financial Controller

  • Thryv Therapeutics Inc. is a privately owned company based in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. We have been pioneering a precision medicine approach to treat Long QT Syndrome via SGK1 inhibition since 2019, and have since evolved our portfolio to include the treatment of resistant and rare cancers._

OPPORTUNITY SUMMARY
The Financial Controller is primarily responsible for the maintenance and reliability of the company's financial accounting records.

Building on experience in cost and financial accounting, the main goal is to assure accurate financial reporting and continuous finance process optimization.


Key activities include:

providing and managing budgets, overseeing all accounting functions and conducting project cost analysis, all of which are key components of near-term and longer-term strategic management decisions.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead the daytoday management of accounting operations with a focus on efficient processes that support business needs, including purchasing/AP, reporting etc.
  • Manage bookkeeping staff, currently externally provided
  • Responsible for accounting and operational reporting systems, including the ERP and other reporting systems related to the financial reporting process
  • Perform budget to actual analyses and dashboards for the executive team and the Board of Directors on a timely basis.
  • Responsible for timely and effective monthly close processes, including preparing and reviewing monthly reconciliations for balance sheet accounts and posting journal entries, resulting in financial information with the highest levels of reliability and integrity
  • With input from other team members, prepare, monitor and update financial budgeting, forecasting, and longrange planning for functional departments
  • Manage relationships with external auditors for completion of the annual audits
  • Oversee and perform tax related inquiries and returns with federal, provincial and state authorities
  • Assist with preparation of materials for Board of Director meetings and other meetings
  • Responsible for stock option administration

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting and/or finance required
  • CPA designation an asset, but strong technical accounting skills backed by experience will be considered

TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • Advanced Microsoft Office Suite knowledge, specifically with Microsoft Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP's, complex formulas, and functions)
  • Experience working in biotech/pharmaceutical industry, an asset


  • Bilingual

  • French and English
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English (written and spoken) is required for communicating with third party contractors across North America and reporting to senior management in the United States.

REPORTING

  • This position reports to the Associate Director, Finance
