The Governance and Curriculum Services office provides research, policy analysis and development, and records management functions for the governing body of the Faculty, ensuring strict confidentiality.

The office has two main areas, Governance; and Academic Integrity and Petitions.

The Governance area provides for formal secretariat support to meetings of Faculty Council and its standing committees, ensuring governance bodies have the necessary information to engage in substantive discussions and to make informed decisions.

The Academic Integrity and Petitions area manages appeals tribunals, the pre-hearing preparation of student appeals files on academic standing, the inclusion of documents or other evidence and the jurisdiction of governance bodies to hear an appeal.

Student Academic Integrity intakes and reviews all cases and ensures that hearings and decisions are based on principles of natural justice and administrative law.


Your opportunity:


Working under the direction of the Director, Governance and Curriculum Services, and with day-to-day supervision of Associate Director, Governance and Curriculum Services the this position administers the day-to-day client service, administrative processes, and problem-solving concerning changes to the Arts & Science undergraduate and graduate curriculum.

The position also provides administrative and technical support for the annual cycle of meetings of Arts & Science Council and its standing committees, special committees and working groups.


The position works in coordination with offices from across the Faculty and the University to facilitate the smooth implementation of approved curriculum changes.

This includes validating curriculum requirements with academic units, as well as preparing and disseminating reports of approved curriculum to colleagues in the OFR and in the Office of Experiential Learning and Outreach Support.


Your responsibilities will include:


  • Verifying the accuracy and completeness of documents
  • Determining actionable items based on the review of applicable information
  • Liaising with stakeholders to support initiatives around curriculum or policy change
  • Keeping wellinformed on leadership commitments and priorities
  • Assessing and revising processes that support administrative activities and objectives; following administrative rules and procedural instructions regarding policy and curriculum change
  • Coordinating meeting schedules, agendas, materials, action, and followup items
  • Preparing and distributing meeting documentation
  • Serving as aresource to others by providing (nonsupervisory) jobrelated guidance

Essential Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent education and experience.
  • Minimum five (5) years of recent and related administrative experience in a postsecondary institution, with strong experience in at least one of the following areas: governance or curricular planning
  • Experience working closely with university faculty and administration in an orientation, training, and advising setting and with demonstrated service skills and professionalism
  • Experience advising clients on policies, procedures, and deadlines and in use of administrative tools and technology
  • Experience in developing and presenting information on business processes to a wide range of audiences
  • Experience and familiarity with administrative tribunals and principles of administrative law
  • Demonstrated experience in development of meeting agendas, production of supporting documentation and minute taking
  • Demonstrated skills in developing and proofreading written instructional/informational resources (whether in print or online) for at least one of the following audiences: faculty; university staff; postsecondary students
  • Superior organizational and timemanagement skills
  • Ability to work well in a team environment, build relationships and collaborate with others
