About the Opportunity:


Reporting to the Health Services Manager or delegate, the Booking & Registration Clerk B contributes to the effective operation of the clinic by assisting in the general organization and patient flow and efficiency of the clinic.

The booking clerk performs clerical and administrative duties following hospital policies and procedures while maintaining a high standard of maturity and discretion in handling confidential matters.

The booking clerk will schedule patients for clinics visits, contacting them via phone or mail as required, with their appointment information.

The Booking & Registration Clerk will also support the main reception area of the unit.

Regular patient interaction is encountered as well as collaboration with the Charge Nurse to ensure efficient patient flow into the unit.


About You:

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Grade XII plus one year related experience or graduation from a recognized secretarial / office administration / business program
  • Computer experience (Windows, MS Office) and typing/keyboarding are required
  • Minimum typing speed of 45wpm preferred
  • Experience using PHS and STAR, in an ambulatory care setting, Advance PHS training preferred
  • Knowledge of medical terminology an asset
  • Customer Service courses / experience considered an asset
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Must be able to function independently and as a member of a team in a high volume and highly pressurized ambulatory care setting
  • Demonstrated verbal communication, accuracy and speed skills
  • Coordination, organization and decision making skills
  • Ability to learn and work quickly and be adaptable to change
  • Competencies in other languages preferred, French an asset
  • A skills test will be included as part of the selection process.

  • Long assignment, fulltime position, 70 hours biweekly
  • Approximately 12 months

Compensation and Incentives:

$ $21.91 hourly
