Summary:

  • To carry out the process of positioning raw materials & finished products within the warehouse in accordance with assigned Standards of Practice. Ensuring that all inbound and outbound shipments are received, loaded on assigned carriers or off loaded in accordance with shipping schedules and assigned Standards of Practice._

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Creates bills of lading and labels.
  • Perform shipping and receiving administrative activities in SAP
  • Intermediate computer skills with ability to receive materials into database (smartsheet).
  • Ensures that all shipping/receiving documents are forwarded to administration for processing and record retention.
  • Coordinate and supervise delivery / offloading of bulk raw materials
  • Support materials manager as required, waste manifest, PIT preventative maintenance scheduling, Inventory Control etc.
  • Performs loading/unloading of trucks for shipment of product, including:
  • Drives forklift truck and operates pump truck and hand cart;
  • Loads product into trailers including manual (by hand) sorting on rare occasions
  • Stacks orders in trailers;
  • Unloads trucks, stacks and stores incoming raw materials in warehouse.
  • Final preparation of packaged product for pickup by customer and/or outside carriers.
  • Operates plastic wrap machine to wrap product on skids;
  • Performs various 5S tasks in warehouse including loading bays, stacks cardboard in recycle bin, removal of garbage as required and to comply with standards required under the scope of obligations under the Health and Safety Act.
  • Performs inventory count, as required.
  • Performs all functions of job, especially operation of forklift, in a safe manner according to company rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
  • Follow all company policies and procedures as applicable to the job
  • Any other duties as assigned by Materials Manager.

Required Skills / Experience / Competencies:

  • _ Manual dexterity required to load/unload product onto trucks/skids._
- _ Motor and mechanical skills to operate plastic wrap hand roller, tape gun, pump trucks, hand cart for boxes, as well as to operate forklift (requires proper training) in connection with transporting materials._
- _ Forklift driving skills and training certification._
- _ WHMIS and related health and safety training._
- _ High school education and shipping/receiving experience acquired through working in similar environment_

Preferred Skills
- _ Knowledge of _Transportation/Handling_ of Dangerous Goods regulations and protocols or a willingness to be trained_
- _ Safety / Efficiency focus required when loading/unloading product, stacking and packaging_
- _ Basic mathematical skills (counting, addition, subtraction) required to keep inventory and ensure proper quantities/products are shipped._
- _ Accuracy and close attention to detail in filling orders, counting inventory and in completion of shipping documentation._
- _ Ability to build knowledge of product line and product codes, as well as shipping policies and procedures._
- _ Janitorial / 5S skills._
- _ Written communication skills to complete required paperwork._
- _ Intermediate computer skills (MS office Suite, SAP, smartsheet)_
- _ Problem solving skills, organizational skills and decision making required to properly load trucks for even weight distribution._


Job Requirements:

  • F/T 40 hours per week
  • Must be available to work ALL shifts: days, nights, weekends.
  • Overtime available as required and preapproved by manager
  • Lifting, carrying and moving of product, boxes of product and containers of product (up to maximum weight 35 Kg).
  • Sitting while driving forklift and getting off and on very frequently as required.
  • When necessary, standing on concrete floor for extended periods while operating machinery.
  • Bending, reaching and twisting of body while loading/unloading trucks, operating machinery and while performing cleanup/ 5S duties.
  • Mental and visual concentration while operating machinery
  • Focus and commitment to operating safely
