Job Title:
General Labourer - Forklift Operator

Reports to:
Shift Supervisor

JOB SUMMARY:

Use a propane forklift to load and unload, move or stack materials or products.

Job responsibilities include general housekeeping of plant floors, assisting with minor maintenance, and monitoring condition of machinery in the process.


RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Inspect and clean forklift at the start of shift; Report issues to the Shift Supervisor
  • Empty bin hoppers under conveyors and equipment; Record number of bins and sacs removed and report to the Shift Supervisor
  • Move super sacs and bins from dust collectors and monitor dust collector conditions
  • Sweeping and/or shoveling shop floor and under conveyor belts
  • Monitor process and equipment for problems and belts for rips or tears report any issues to the Shift Supervisor
  • Check for product jams and other problems in the conveyor system
  • Assist with minor maintenance activities
  • Assist with removing inventory from bunkers and keep neat, tidy and free of debris; Remove garbage and contaminants
  • Unload product from trucks when required
  • Report all mechanical problems immediately to the Shift Supervisor
  • Proper use and wearing of mandatory PPE
  • Perform other duties as directed

ACADEMIC/EDUATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:


  • Possession of a high school diploma or general equivalency diploma
  • Must be able to read and write English
  • Must have a Certificate of Competency to operate a forklift

REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:


  • Previous forklift experience an asset
  • Requires immediate attention in some instances
  • Mechanical ability is a definite asset

Pay:
$19.00 per hour


Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • Guelph, ON: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

Experience:


  • Forklift: 1 year (preferred)
