The TD Insurance Analytics and Modelling team has the mandate to provide business intelligence using advanced analytical techniques such as machine learning and artificial intelligence (AI) models.

This group is responsible for doing in-depth analysis to better understand claim payments, client or advisor behaviours, product design, underwriting processes and a lot more.

This group is also responsible to develop, maintain and calibrate all models used within TD Insurance, including but not limited to loss cost models and customer behaviour models.


Job Description:


  • Main tasks of the Actuarial Analyst I, Underwriting Analytics:
  • Using state-of-the-art predictive modelling techniques (GLM, Random Forest, GBM,) to refine segmentation models and underwriting rules for the general insurance automobile and residential products for the TD Insurance Canadian market
  • Pushing forward the knowledge of the client's expected risk and profitability to the business by leveraging insight and making datadriven decisions
  • Execution and presentation of numerous underwriting analyses aiming to support growth and profitability objectives of TD Insurance
  • Development and maintenance of tools to monitor the evolution of our portfolio
  • Collaboration with numerous departments within the organization (Underwriting, Pricing, Advanced Analytics, Product, Risk Management, Client Advice Center, etc.)

Requirements:


What can you bring to TD? Tell us about your most relevant experience, credentials and knowledge for this role, as well as these essential requirements and desired attributes:

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in Actuarial Studies, Mathematics or Statistics
  • In the process of writing exams of the Casualty Actuarial Society
  • Analytical mind and ability to make sound decisions
  • Good organizational and time management skills
  • Adaptable to changing situations
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and computer skills (SQL, VBA, R, Python etc.) will be an asset
  • Good written and oral communication skills in English (French will be an asset)
