The
Metals Project Manager is accountable for the direct hands-on leadership and quality execution of all metal aspects of a project throughout its entire life cycle and the timely and accurate development of calculated costs associated with specific projects.


Key Accountabilities:


  • Manage all metal aspects of a project from final contract through completion including verification, budgeting, planning, client relations, delivery, installation and documentation
  • Develop detailed cost and risk analysis along with resource alternative proposals and recommendations related to specific projects to create an accurate assessment of the project cost using project documentation and client requests
  • Ensure and constantly improve the safety, morale, quality and profitability of our operations through the ongoing implementation of effective methods and strategies
  • Verify project scope, site conditions, and field dimensions
  • Qualify plans to ensure the project falls within our scope of work
  • Collaborate and coordinate with various department leads to ensure adequate allocation of resources within the estimate and ensure adequate timing for job completion
  • Cultivate and maintain positive working relationships, as the primary leader on the project, with stakeholders both internal and external to the facility to facilitate the unencumbered completion of the project
  • Oversee the transfer of client designs to production drawings
  • Demonstrate proficiency and accuracy with quantity takeoffs and estimates
  • Obtain qualified subcontractor quotations for project bids
  • Monitor the output of internal departments, vendors, subcontractors, and installation groups to ensure contract compliance and delivery within budgetary constraints

Key Competencies/Requirements:


  • 35 years progressive project management roles in an architectural metal fabrication environment
  • 35 years experience in estimating large commercial metal projects
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience would be considered
  • Working knowledge of custom architectural metal fabrication, custom millwork, commercial construction, manufacturing, and installation methods
  • Experience with large construction and metal projects would be considered an asset
  • Ability to travel, including internationally
  • Ability to accurately read and interpret architectural plans, drawings and specifications
  • Highly motivated, participative leader with a proactive approach
  • Exceptional customer service, interpersonal, and relationship building skills grown from a genuine approach
  • Proven project planning, problem solving, decisionmaking, and business reasoning skills
  • Excellent prioritization, timemanagement, organization, and multitasking skills with an ability to work under resource constraints in a fastpaced environment
  • Accuracy with mathematical calculations and basic cost accounting principles
  • Profound attention to detail
