Description
BRP is seeking a Data Protection Advisor who will be responsible for establishing and managing the data governance capabilities around Data Protection policies, Data Classifications, Data Discovery, Data Inventory and Data Privacy Management.
This includes performing business process analysis, identifying gaps and inefficiencies, and proposing solutions and plans to streamline; while respecting compliance, privacy, confidentiality, and security policies.

YOU'LL HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO:
Define and implement the organizational structures and operating models needed to support the objectives of the data governance and data privacy-protection program.
Establish the data protection governance framework, target operating model and its roadmap that include assessment, planning, strategy deployment of data protection solution, monitoring.
Grow data literacy and data maturity across the organization through effective communication strategies and training to build core data proficiencies in data-related and business roles.
Partner with members of the Legal team to ensure full alignment on all current and upcoming data privacy regulations, including our responsibilities and obligation.
Partner with members of the IT Cyber Security and IT Risk & Compliance Governance team to ensure full alignment on all current and future strategies.
Support requirements related to legal, security, privacy, and compliance aspects of data (PIA, data classification, legal requirements, regulatory compliance, etc.).
Assist with the development and maintenance of data policies and standards to support program objectives; establishing and implementing the process governance related to data privacy and protection.
Collaborate with the Legal and IT security team in establishing data retention policy-procedure, the archiving procedure, and the operationalization approach.
Collaborate with the IT security team in establishing the proper foundation, structure, and strategy on access control management at the system level.
Participating in the projects to provide expertise and advise on the framework of data privacy and protection guidelines and standards; that includes the governance processes on data privacy and protection assessment, the monitoring and validation approach.
Provide coaching (mentor and develop junior staff) in support of Data privacy and Protection, develops and executes long-term plans for complex projects.
Articulate the importance of customer privacy and promote privacy up and down the management chain, including audiences who have varying levels of familiarity with the topic.
YOU'LL THRIVE IN THIS ROLE IF YOU HAVE THE FOLLOWING SKILLS AND QUALITIES:
Bachelor's degree in business technology, information systems or a related study, or equivalent related project experience.
4+ years' experience in the field of Data Protection and governance.
Significant experience in the deployment of data privacy and protection governance programs and execution of related strategic plans.
Strong knowledge on Data Privacy and Data Protection methodology, concepts and framework, as well as its best practices.
Strong knowledge of data privacy regulations such as GDPR, CCPA, Privacy act Canada, Bill 64, etc. and its latest information is required.
Strong knowledge of data loss prevention, SOC, or cybersecurity operations with specific understanding of the tactics, techniques and procedures is required.
Experience in data access control management starting with ideation, gap analysis, and establishment of the strategy approach and its deployment.
Experience in consent management especially on individual rights, starting with ideation, gap analysis, and establishment of the strategy approach and its deployment.
Strong knowledge on the Data Privacy platform and its implementation, such as Colibra, Alation, OneTrust, or other is required.
Good knowledge on Data Governance platforms, such as Colibra, Alation, AXON, Watson IGC, or other is preferred.
Good knowledge of linking technical elements (Data Models) to business elements (Business process mapping) is required.
Good knowledge of database structures and querying tools (SQL, MySQL, OLAP, Data Warehouse, etc.) experience is preferred.
Demonstrated organizational and project management skills with proven ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments and manage multiple projects; Issue management experience.
