Description
***The Coordinator coordinates the planning, design development, project budget development, implementation and evaluation of key facility projects and initiatives. The Coordinator will be responsible for working with key stakeholders to develop project plans. The incumbent will have a demonstrated design background (architecture or interior architecture) in the healthcare or healthcare related market sectors, knowledge of applicable Canadian healthcare design standards, and experience in scheduling and cost control, project management and coordination, excellent communication (both verbal and written) and presentation and networking skills.


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinate various tasks and activities associated with space moves, office furniture adjustments, including planning and design coordination, procurement, and coordination of onsite activities.
  • The Coordinator evaluates the requirements for various disciplines and designs or reviews the mechanical details such as the heating systems, cooling systems, medical gas, sprinklers, fire safety, plumbing systems, and electrical details such as emergency power, normal power, security, fire alarm etc. or a department requires additional space to expand to meet growing staffing needs and to evaluate the requested growth needs, review options of consolidation or expansion including potential impacts on adjacent departments.
  • Track all project related expenses against the approved budget. Report on project variances on a routine basis.
  • Direct the consulting team, which includes directing and verifying work performed by the architects, engineers, contractors and other specialty consultants. This direction and verification of work is then extended into tendering and construction stages with the aim of maintaining a high level of performance from the design team, suppliers and contractors.
  • The Coordinator also liaises with various Hospital departments, Ministry of Health, City Building Department, vendors etc. to ensure project timelines, deliverables and budget are met.
  • Participate in Master Planning/Master Programming/Functional Programming of various size projects, with or without the use of specialty consultants depending upon size and nature of the project (e.g., determining building size, space for each department, and required equipment).
  • Provides regular updates to the management team of Facilities Management and Planning, on a scheduled and ad hoc basis.
  • Performs work in accordance with the provisions of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations and all CHEO corporate/departmental policies and procedures related to Occupational Health and Safety.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Criminal Record Check (Essential)
  • University Undergraduate Degree (B.A.) or related field or other appropriate combinations of education and experience, along with the demonstrated knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position may be considered in lieu of stated education and experience (Essential)
  • Project management experience (23 years) (Essential)
  • Working knowledge of CAD in order to prepare various sketches, designs, and update master CAD files (Essential)
  • High degree of interpersonal skills and partnership development experience (Essential)
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a multidisciplinary environment (Essential)
  • Excellent interpersonal and professional communication with internal and external colleagues and stakeholders (Essential)
  • Strengths in public speaking and giving demonstrations (preferred)
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a multidisciplinary environment (Essential)
  • Excellent organizational skills (Essential)
  • Excellent MS Office Skills (Essential)
  • Bilingualism (English/French) (preferred)

Pay:
$35.57-$41.50 per hour
