POSITION BACKGROUND:
The HR Manager acts as the primary liaison between the leadership group and the organization regarding HR functions, objectives, and processes.
CORE DUTIES:
Recruiting
- Responsible for recruitment and selection of qualified personnel
- Develop and implement recruitment strategies
- Managing recruiting process
Organizational Effectiveness
- Plans and manages the Human Resource (HR) aspects of organizational change
- Collaborates with senior leadership to rollout changes to organizational structure, human resources practices, or changes to legislation
- Consistently works to improve existing programs for employee discounts, recognition
Employee Relations
- Implements and evaluates Ketek's employee relations and human resources policies, programs, and practices
- Provides safe space for employees to reach out about issues with coworkers, supervisor, or at home, and provides additional resources as appropriate
- Coaches and mentors supervisors and managers on the progressive discipline process Compensation and Benefits
- Evaluates the total compensation strategy to ensure it is consistent with the objectives of attracting, motivating, and retaining qualified people
- Manages the transition to new benefit plans and ensure their effectiveness and efficiency of benefit programs
- Works with management to update job requirements and job descriptions for all positions
- Works with senior management during biannual compensation review
- Ensures legal compliance by monitoring and implementing applicable human resource legislation, conducting investigations, and maintaining records as directed by FOIP legislation
Other Duties
- Cultivates professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, and establishing personal networks
- Manages human resources staff by recruiting, selecting, and orienting employees
- Represent Ketek in a light that is commensurate with the values of Management and the Corporate Vision and Mission Statements

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
Required
- Postsecondary education in Human Resources Management
- Minimum 7 years' experience in Human Resources
- Fluent in the English language (reading, written, spoken)
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and frequent demanding deadlines while working individually or as part of a team
- Be proactive, selfmotivated, and selfdirected
- Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office)
- Able to deal with the public in a positive, courteous, and respectful manner
- Effectively handle changing schedules and priorities, with high level prioritization skills
- Strong work ethic and organizational planning skills with attention to detail
- Able to work independently or as part of a team
- Effective verbal and listening communication skills
- Able to handle confidential information appropriately
Preferred
- Experience with Human Rights Legislation for each of the western Canadian Provinces
- Experience with Employment Standards for each of the western Canadian Provinces
- Certified Professional in Human Resources (CPHR)
- Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety legislation
- Knowledge of adult instructional and learning theory and principles, instructional design, training methodologies, learning management systems and competency assessment
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Physical Demands
- Regularly required to stand/sit, talk/hear, use hands/fingers to operate a computer and telephone, stoop, and kneel
- Prolonged exposure to computer screens
Work Environment
- Office environment (100%)
- May be required to work weekends and outside of regular office hours
