Description

Workforce Development Board (WDB) is a not-for-profit organization committed to delivering responsive workforce development solutions to meet local labour market needs through knowledge, resources and partnerships.

We are seeking an individual who is passionate about workforce development to develop and implement communication and promotion strategies and to conduct outreach in the full-time position of
Communications Coordinator (1 year Contract with the possibility of extension).


Under the direction of the CEO, the Communications Coordinator analyzes, develops and implements communication and promotion strategies, including determining awareness and advertising needs, as well as developing appropriate marketing plans and materials for project activities, initiatives and events.

The Communications Coordinator effectively communicates and coordinates the marketing of WDB, positioning the organization as the regional hub for workforce development and conducts outreach with WDB stakeholders to ensure stakeholders are effectively and appropriately engaged in new and ongoing initiatives.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Assess characteristics of labour market information resources, tools or services to be promoted to determine, develop and execute marketing and advertising initiatives.
  • Develop strategies and related content for direct and digital marketing and advertising campaigns and implement them.
  • Manage post campaign analysis to measure and report on marketing and advertising metrics.
  • Develop and maintain social media accounts.
  • Conduct surveys to identify the interests and feedback of key groups served by WDB.
  • Prepare or oversee preparation of monthly newsletter, reports, presentations, websites and press releases.
  • Develop and organize workshops, meetings, ceremonies and other events and programs for information purposes.
  • Arrange interviews and other media events.
  • Coordinate special publicity events and promotions for internal and external audiences.
  • Assist in the preparation of brochures, reports, presentations and other marketing material.
  • Maintain positive media relations and act as a liaison with regional media outlets.
  • Assist with the coordination of community partners by attending meetings, providing representation on committees, communicating WDB's activities and promoting adoption of initiatives throughout the WDB catchment area.
  • Conduct research for various projects, as needed.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Postsecondary degree or diploma in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing or a related field;
  • Professional writing, editing and graphic design ability;
  • Strong knowledge of research tools and design, data analysis, and report writing;
  • Evidence of exceptional interpersonal, stakeholder engagement, oral and written communication skills, including public speaking;
  • Advanced knowledge of office support software including MS Office, website design and management and social media for business including: MailChimp, Photoshop, InDesign, WordPress, Canva, Google Data Studio, Hootsuite and Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn;
  • Ability to consistently represent the WDB professionally and in a manner that reflects WDB values and public image;
  • Experience in a notforprofit or public service environment is an asset;
  • Knowledge of community economic development principles is an asset;
  • Must possess a valid "G" Ontario Drivers' license.

ROLE DETAILS:


  • Position Information:

Contract, 1 year
commencing April 1, 2023, and ending March 31, 2024, with possibility of extension dependent upon funding.

Hybrid position: work from home 3 days, in office 2 days weekly, some travel required

  • Availability and willingness to travel within, and occasionally outside, the WDB catchment area is required

Hours: standard workweek of 37 hours per week

  • Compensation: Between $23.90 and $29.12 per hour, dependent upon on education and experience
