Summary
The Role of the Assistant Restaurant Manager serves as a department role model. They are passionate about food and customer service. They are problem solvers with leadership skills.

The Assistant Restaurant Manager understands the culture that Hilton Garden Inn strives to promote and customer satisfaction and loyalty are a priority.

The Assistant Restaurant Manager must also be able to fill in when the Restaurant Manager is absent and as such has a working knowledge of the Restaurant Managers responsibilities.


Qualifications
Minimum 2 years managerial or supervisory experience in a food and beverage related position. Food handler's certification and Smart serve. Understanding of unionized work environments an asset. Bilingualism an asset.


Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with the restaurant manager to develop and carry out ideas and procedures to continuously improve department performance and goals
  • Oversees and supervises restaurant operation as per shift
  • Knowledge of restaurant operations, company policies, and how to perform all restaurant tasks
  • Ensures staff follows the Hilton Garden Inn service program guidelines
  • Examine food and beverage preparation to ensure Hilton Garden Inn standards at all times.
  • Identify and delegate responsibilities to ensure objectives are met
  • Implement new policy as outlined by the Company or Restaurant Manager
  • Consistently review operation and staffing level to identify and resolve any problems
  • Assist in the restaurant when staffing constraints require
  • Assist or conduct daily preshift (dinner) or post shift (breakfast) meetings
  • Monitors all levels of restaurant stock; alcohol, dry goods, paper goods, etc and follows up with manager if something is needed.
  • Ensure all restaurant staff are properly uniformed and following dress code
  • Monitors staff punctuality and attendance
  • Ensure staff are able to take breaks when the timing is appropriate
  • Ensures all shiftspecific tasks and side duties are completed.
  • Acts as a bridge between management and staff to facilitate department operations.
  • Assign employees with designated sections for breakfast and dinner service
  • Ensuring all stations and sections are open and ready for service in accordance to brand standards, and occupancy levels
  • Answering guest concerns and issues in regards to food and service quality levels
  • Ensuring the closing procedures are met by checking every station, stations are properly stocked and ready for the A.M. or P.M. service
  • Ensuring cleanliness in the dining space and bar areas are maintained during and after breakfast and dinner service
  • Ensuring all employees are actively engaged in making sure the guest experience exceeds expectations
  • Coordinate and expedite service between the kitchen and the front of the house
  • Coordinate traffic flow between hostess and servers on high occupancy nights
  • Coordinate the setup, service and tear down of service areas
  • Prepare monthly inventory sheets of all alcohol related items as well as sanitation and paper goods in relation to all services
  • Provide a professional and enthusiastic aptitude in dealing with guests
  • Provides coaching and feedback to staff to assess performance on an ongoing basis
  • Identify employee weaknesses and retrain if necessary
  • Responsible with the Restaurant Manager for overseeing training of new staff members.
  • Ensure staff training on technical and service aspects of job; P.O.S. system, draft beer taps, coffee machines, juice machines, etc.
  • Work with Restaurant Manager to ensure new staff receives proper orientation and proper training.
  • Advises Restaurant Manager on how new hire is progressing.
  • Ensure that all departmental goals are communicated, understood and met by all staff.
  • Enforce and exceed standards in compliance with safety, proper food handling and sanitation.
  • Assist with basic human resource issues and concerns of staff enlisting the support of management as needed.
  • Observe, coach and corrects staffs' service to ensure guests receive a positive experience by delivering a high level of service
  • Work with Restaurant manager to ensure staff clearly understands their job roles, responsibilities and performance expectations.
  • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with restaurant staff
  • Follow up with any guests complaints; address guest concerns, requests or issues
  • Engages guests to understand their needs and exceed guest expectations
  • Ensures guest satisfaction as per Hilton standards.
  • Monitor timing of guest experience.
  • Clearly address all voids and submit proper information to manager regarding all voids, spillage, etc.
  • Completes and submits monthly Hilton Honors points

Salary:
$25.00 per hour
