Description
First off, Thank You for your interest

Usually we only hire full-time employees as it makes a great team atmosphere but in this case we are looking for some initial flexibility.

We require skeleton hours between now and the summer.

Then in July and August depending on your flexibility and availability over the summer I believe with fill-in shifts around my other staffs' holidays and a regular schedule; full time hours will be easy to achieve.

Between September and November hours will likely be less as business slows down. In November I have 2 employees going on maternity leave and full time hours will be essential again.

We have some staff with other career goals that they are working toward which means we will lose them at some point.

The maternity leave coverage in November will then be full-time and permanent.

  • If you are honest, hard working, on time and a team player, please keep reading.
  • In order to ensure this is a good job match for you I would like to explain a little of what your responsibilities would be.
  • We always start at 6:55am.
  • You would require your own transportation and ensure you are On time.
  • We start by letting all the dogs out to their outside runs and then we clean inside, let them in then clean outside. Please note that our duties are performed during rain, shine, wind, sleet, hail or snow. The major cleaning takes usually till 9:00am and includes pressure washing, rinsing with hoses, using a squeegee and poop scooping. Poop scooping is a large part of the job.
  • Walking and playing with dogs is fun but physically demanding. Staff must be able to walk many hours a day with small or large dogs on and off leash (Not all dogs are well trained but you don't have to handle any really aggressive dogs either),
  • We have a friendly, easytoget along with staff. We would like to add happy, reliable, team players only.
-
When other people go on holidays that is when we are the busiest. Expect to work every other weekend and many days during the holidays. This can include Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Year's Day, Thanksgiving, etc. The kennel is never closed; we are always available to board dogs year round.

  • You must
be prepared to work up to a 12 hour shift, though usually half of the staff members leave earlier (anywhere from a 48 hour shift).
Employees are able to advance if desired. All staff start as kennel attendants.

Our goal is to have all of our staff up to a supervisor status as we feel that the more positions employees are familiar with or have mastered, the better they are at understanding how they can support co-workers at each level.

When you start and as we get to know your individual skills we will play into your strengths. As you master skills we will help you learn and grow, with an emphasis on calm communication and teamwork.
Forward thinkers that are able to anticipate ways to lighten the load of the owners will be compensated appropriately.
