Description

South East Cornerstone Public School division is seeking a full-time temporary Facilities Maintenance Technician to service the south area of our school division.

Reporting directly to the Facilities Foreman, the incumbent of this position will perform major maintenance practices to facilities to ensure a safe and efficient environment is maintained.

Duties:

Duties and responsibilities include:

Help maintain a preventative maintenance program for their assigned primary facilities.
Review and recommend maintenance repairs and upgrades to the Facilities Foreman.
Help maintain and control adequate inventory of caretaking & maintenance supplies.
Develop and maintain a positive working rapport with the Principals, staff and general public.
Maintain awareness of technical developments and advancement in practices, equipment, supplies and materials.
Maintain awareness of codes and regulations.
Assist contractors who may be engaged to perform maintenance work for the Division.
Assist in emergencies which may involve after hour callouts to perform repairs and/or resecure the buildings.
Promote safe work practices in accordance with Occupational Health & Safety, Board Policy and directives by supervisors.
Ensure that general maintenance to all facilities, grounds, play equipment and fences are carried out.
Conduct oneself in a manner appropriate to an educational institution that provides services to children.
Be willing to engage in lifelong learning with respect to training, inservice and courses of study.
Perform other duties as may be required or assigned by the Facilities Foreman.

Required Education, Knowledge, Qualifications and Experience:

Minimum of Grade 12 education and journeyman trade is preferred.
Minimum of 2 years experience related to building maintenance or facility operation.
A general working knowledge of the trades (IE. Carpentry, plumbing, mechanical, painting, etc.)
Level I & II Occupational Health & Safety Regulations preferred.
Valid Fireman's Certificate is preferred
Valid Driver's License
Knowledge of fire & building codes
Knowledge of WHMIS

Salary & Benefits:

Full benefit package
Employer matched defined benefit pension plan
Salary: $29.97 per hour (nonticketed) and $40.63 per hour (Journeyman ticket)
